Comfortable stay in lovely surroundings
10.0We stayed here for 2 nights. We chose it for the location as we were going to Castle of Mey and John O’Groats. It was ideal for this. We ate out both nights, once in Thurso and once in Scrabster, both were an easy, short drive away On arrival, we were given a warm welcome. We were on the first floor and there’s quite a lot of stairs to get up there but the hallway looks very grand. There is a lovely breakfast room and lounge downstairs. Our room was very big with lots of storage space. The decor was lovely and it was all themed to Scottish clans. There were coffee facilities but no decaf coffee in the room. There were two chairs in the room and it was all very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a reasonable size and it had a very effective and hot shower. There were some toiletries provided. Our host was very welcoming and informative. Breakfast included lots of choice for Continental and also hot food on request which you fill in a form the night before. All very efficient. There’s a small car park outside but adequate number of spaces for the number of guests. I would definitely recommend this B&B.

8.0Beautiful Victorian villa with original features, eg high moulded ceilings, large windows, quality craftmanship in plaster and woodwork, sweeping staircase. Dining room especially lovely, original fireplace, tables laid attractively. Excellent breakfast, and early service for guests with early leaving time, eg for Orkney ferry. Comfortable bed, light airy room, quiet. I had booked a single room with a shared bathroom (with one other room) but it was always empty when I needed it. I also had a washbasin with hot water in my room. Lots of sockets for laptop etc. Good wifi. Location perfect for me as had work in Scrabster.
− I'd have liked a table/desk for my laptop - room had coffee-tables and comfy chair.
