Brilliant location, stunning views, kind and welcoming
9.0Superb location in the very centre of the old part of Sulmona. Everywhere walkable from there, and the AC a huge relief and respite from 38 degree heat! Marta was a wonderful host, helping us to park in the free car park and sorting out city taxes, road restrictions removed etc. The view from the rooftop is breathtaking, albeit also taking your breath walking up 4 or 5 flights of stairs each morning 😂. But SO worth it. 360 degree beauty. Stunning. My husband and I recommend going up there at night to lie and look at the stars - we saw several shooting stars! Thank you Marta - we will be back!

10.0The breakfast on the rooftop was gorgeous. Our room was beautifully decorated and wonderfully cool in the summer heat.

I would return not only to Sulmona but just to stay at Il Marchese Del Grillo.
10.0You could not beat the atmosphere, character, location and service of Il Marchese del Grillo. For us the absolute best thing was the rooftop terrace. As we had a few days in Sulmona, we spent one entire afternoon and evening enjoying the superb views of the town surrounded by mountains and an apertivo up there. In case it's useful for anyone, there are approx 50-60 steps from the ground floor to the 4th floor terrace but it's well worth the walk up! Marta gave us lots of information and breakfast on the terrace was gorgeous. Rooms were extremely clean and had great historical atmosphere.
