Chough Cottage, Heavitree Road, Cawsand, GB
A lovely little cottage but best suited to a couple rather than the 4 people it is advertised for. Great location and if
5.0The location made getting to the beach easy and to have the trolley in the hallway to help with luggage was a great help. We loved the kitchen and sitting room areas which were bright and airy.
− The house smelt very strongly of stale cooking when we arrived, possibly where it hadn’t been aired between guests. A room spray or diffusers scattered about the house would have been a nice touch to have alleviated this. As the days went on there was a very musty smell, possibly from old damp but absolutely no evidence of damp anywhere. The bathroom was lovely though clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly- the blind was thick with dust at the top and there were cobwebs everywhere plus an item of the previous guest’s dirty laundry was on the bathroom floor which was very off putting and showed the bathroom had not been cleaned thoroughly enough since the last guest. The shower bath and sink were very clean I should add. The outside court yard is lovely though full of bird poo on the floor and table which meant we didn’t want to use it. The washing line was broken which again we coped with but it didn’t make it easy to hang up wet suits etc. It did feel a little bit like we were staying in someone’s home rather than a cottage let for the purpose of a rental cottage. For example, there was quite a lot of electrical wire clutter everywhere, especially in the master bedroom for things like unnecessary speakers and tvs etc. This meant there wasn’t a lot of space to place dressing table items in the alcove where the mirror was. The mirror frame was broken which meant you couldn’t adjust the angle. If the wires could be tidied away and more thought given to how the room might be used by a guest, then it would have felt much more comfortable. For example, a big speaker on the low ceiling in the bedroom seemed badly placed and unnecessary.
Delightful stay in such a quaint cottage
9.0Really lovely, well equipped, comfortable cottage overlooking the sea. A delight to wake up in & see the sea.
− Nothing really, but would probably benefit from having a second loo.
Chough Cottage
8.0The cottage was very warm with a great view, it had everything I needed.
− WiFi blocked me from accessing my betting accounts.
