For what we paid, extremely disappointing and wouldn’t go back.
4.0Great location for a trip to the Cambridge Theatre. Staff at breakfast were excellent in complete contrast to everyone else we encountered.
− Receptionist was incredibly rude when we arrived. Not just to us, answered the phone with “what do you want, I’m busy with a customer” before slamming it down. We arrived at 1pm. Check in was 3pm so we left our cases and went to see some sights for a couple of hours. When we returned our room wasn’t ready, took until 4pm because they were “prioritising a large booking” so we had to sit for an hour in the bar with our three children. No apology, no offer of anything while we waited. We were however permitted to spend £9.50 on a small kids drink, water and bag of crisps. Had to point out to the said rude receptionist she’d overcharged me at £13.50 for these. When we finally got to the room there was a large soaking wet patch on the floor which they had tried to hide by putting a stool on it, in the middle of the floor! TV in the room didn’t work. Cot was broken. Requested a bath mat to give our baby a bath, told it would be there immediately but an hour later hadn’t arrived (by which time she had fallen asleep anyway). Steps everywhere in the hotel itself, had to carry our cases up them to get in to the hotel and up a further flight of stairs from the lift to the room. There’s a bell for assistance at the entrance , but this just called a staff member (said rude receptionist) to stand and watch me carry three cases up the stairs.
