− I only have one thing that would have helped. I’m diabetic and my insulin needs to be kept cool. A mini fridge would have helped a lot.

All but derelict facilities
2.0I stayed here 20 years ago while working for another organization and even then found it dated. Nothing has changed since then and it is in a state of general disrepair. Weeds were growing in the flower beds rather than any landscaping. Paint peeling off the ceiling. Hair dryer didn't work. No vent in the bathroom. Thin old towels and no room service to refresh things like that. Toilet hadn't been cleaned. Phone was unplugged and in a tangle of cords; there was no Wi-Fi offered and no information sheet anywhere in the room. There was no fridge in the room, and when we asked if there was one available for medication, it took much longer to arrive than promised, and I received an attitude from the personnel behind the desk when I politely inquired again. Furniture is chipped and damaged; elevators are filthy. The conference areas were unheated and absolutely freezing in spring. I had to wear my pajamas underneath my work clothes and a jacket and a hat indoors just to be able to endure the full days of conferences. I have never seen or experienced anything like it in the United States. I felt like I was in a developing country or a post-Soviet state. Most venues at least provide complimentary water, tea, and coffee throughout the day; often more. All of those were by concession only and very pricey considering the absolute bottom tier quality.
