I intended to make a refundable booking, but must've clicked the wrong button: I ended up paying a higher rate for a NON-refundable booking! The hotel was completely unhelpful, despite a family emergency.

Fantastic Hotel

Great hotel to stay at. Perfect location. Rooms were stylish and spotless. Beds were extremely comfortable. The food selection and quality at breakfast was amazing. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Couples will struggle with the very small rooms

Needing a single room, at least at this hotel I was allocated a double room for single occupancy. It was very small but fine for one. Two people would have struggled. The breakfast was mediocre. Not much choice and a bunfight. We had dinner one night which was good. The hotel is fairly central, being just beyond Bryggen. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Look elsewhere

This hotel is like a conveyor belt for large tour groups all wandering around with lanyards on. Unwelcome staff on check in, wrote our passport details on a notepad which then got scribbled out later- not very confidential. Room was really dark- good for sleeping but couldn’t see much during the day even with the lights on. Tea tray cups still had lipstick on from the previous guests. The corner of the bed is very sharp and dangerous. It is covered by a bed runner so you cannot judge the sharp corner. I found this out the hard way and got a nasty injury to my leg. I’ve included a photo. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel as there are plenty others to choice from In Bergen and in our opinion was not good value for money.

Enjoyable stay

We spent 4 nights here in what seemed to be an unusual heatwave in Bergen - no rain! The breakfast choice is awesome and plenty of it. The room was good although the air conditioning was not intuitive meaning we couldn't find the most effective way to cool the room down beyond having windows open. Reception seemed to be constantly busy with guests coming in and out in a seemingly endless stream. There isn't a huge amount of public relaxing/lounging space and only a few tables/chairs on the ground floor which by the evening were always fully occupied. The beds were comfortable and the room had some useful hanging space. But with a combination of the unclear how to use air con and the mini fridge which both didn't keep things particularly cold and kicked out a large amount of heat itself, the room temp wasn't great overnight for sleeping. Not enough to really complain about though - it was okay. Overall, it was good for the price.

Rooms too small - effectively a rip-off

− Family room was very small. A real disgrace to offer such small rooms!
