I have since tried to contact the hotel without any success

2.0

On arriving for breakfast at 8.15 I was told by the only member of staff present that there was no gas and that no hot food was available. The only fruit was apples and oranges. No raspberries, grapes, bananas, blueberries etc. I had a bowl of cereal a slice of toast and a cup of instant coffee. I feel that this is below the standard of any other b and b I have stayed in, let alone a hotel.

The room, No. 9 had a steep and narrow step to the door. The very small toilet was accessed by a very steep step down.

Room 11

3.0

The staff at the Talardy Hotel were friendly, welcoming and efficient throughout our stay. The food was very good, although there was some confusion regarding the availability of the advertised set menu. Our room was clean and comfortable overall, although the Georgian window frame could have done with a more thorough clean.

The biggest disappointment was that Booking.com advertised that there was air conditioning, but Room 11 had none!!There was only one fan provided for four people, which was completely inadequate during the hot weather. Reception confirmed that no air-conditioned rooms were available. A member of staff said they would leave a note for the night porter to see if another fan could be provided, but unfortunately, no additional fan was ever brought to the room. As a result, the room became extremely hot and uncomfortable, making it very difficult to sleep. While the staff were courteous and did their best, the room description was misleading, and this issue significantly affected our stay.

Honestly, when my husband said we we're stopping in a Marstons Inn, I didn't have great expectations. I'll admit it - everything I imagined was wrong! Set in a converted beautiful Georgian manor and a newly added seperate building they call the lodge, the hotel boasts vast, peaceful gardens with plenty of outdoor seating, and you'd never know you were in close proximity to the A55. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with everything you need for a short stay and the pub/restaurant has a wide selection, all priced reasonably - and tastes top notch as well. I'm not good with names, so honestly can't recall them, but the two ladies who were on duty both days were absolutely great, as was Josh. All really friendly, very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. First time visiting, but won't be our last. We'll see you again soon!

The only downside is that we found the mattress a little too hard - but who ever thinks someone else's bed is more comfortable than your own!?
