Swathed in rich fabrics, adorned with antique treasures, and sprinkled with a touch of theatrical flair, these suites are nothing short of our most sumptuous and stylish quarters. Several feature a plush sofa that can convert into a single bed, ideal for accommodating a third guest. Some of our Junior Suites pay tribute to The Gore’s most illustrious visitors, such as the Dame Nellie Melba Suite, a nod to the famed Australian opera singer, and the Dame Edith Evans Suite, a fitting salute to the grande dame of the West End stage. The Miss Ada Suite and the Miss Fanny Suite honor the Cook sisters that once owned the hotel, while the Lady Blessington Suite bears the name of the Countess that resided at Gore House, the Kensington manor that originally stood on the site of the Royal Albert Hall. Paying homage to Britain’s most iconic female monarchs, the Queen Victoria Suite and the Queen Elizabeth Suite channel the splendor of Buckingham Palace itself to provide a very royal sanctuary to spend the night.

A nice stay ruined by the staff when we checked out

1.0

This would have been an enjoyable stay if the staff had not added the remainder of our deposit to our bill under spurious and seemingly random "staff charges" and had not informed us of this.

On check in, we were asked for 50 pounds deposit a night, told it was to cover the minibar and would be returned. This is common in London and I paid 100 for 2 nights. On check out I was presented a bill to sign without comment and asked to sign it. They asked if I had used the mini bar and I said no. We never use it. I knew I owed for a breakfast and was owed about 40 pounds. I checked the bill carefully and saw they intended to pay me back 2 pounds. When I asked why, I was told that the rest was added to the room bills (with seemingly random percentage amounts) as a "staff charge". When I asked why, since that never happens in London and we had paid a charge for the room fixed in advance, they changed their comment to call it a "discretionary room/staff charge". So, in effect, they just added a chunk of my deposit to the bill, and didn't tell me. This "staff charge" is mentioned nowhere on their literature, or on Booking.com or anywhere else. ON THE CONTRARY, see the enclosed image which says the price INCLUDES ALL SERVICE CHARGES!!!! I had also been told explicitly that the deposit was for the mini bar and breakfast. So I can only conclude that it was a cheap and nasty trick, which RUINED my whole experience right there, and made me determined never to return. Only when I said, angrily, that "I am totally uninterested in paying for anything other than the breakfast" they made me a new bill. Nasty, cheap and utterly unexpected from a hotel like this.

It always a pleasant place to stay. I was in London for the first weekend of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
