8.0In summary, the Almara Inn is clean, the staff is friendly, and the room is comfortable enough. All for an amazing price. Well worth the value! The Almara Inn is a good, traditional Route 66 motel, but NOT right on the train track. We never heard the train at all ... it's too far away. That is a wonderful plus as many Route 66 hotels out west are on or very near the working train tracks. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The bed wasn't uncomfortable. Although the hotel is antique, USB and C ports were available for charging our cell phones. That was nice since we forgot our charging cubes. Don't expect a Hilton. If you want to experience history in comfort, stay at the Almara Inn.
− Since the hotel is antique there are some fit-and-finish problems. The bathroom door didn't shut. Probably because of the 475 layers, give or take, of paint from years. That isn't a criticism, at least it is being painted and maintained. Also, due to its age, plan on hearing your below-the-window a/c. It works well, just isn't quiet. However, at least it slowly builds up as it comes on, rather than a "shot gun" approach. The only "new" thing that needs improvement is the curtains. They need a backing to help keep out the light. It didn't bother my husband, but I don't sleep well when my body thinks it is light outside. The porch light filtered in all night.

9.0− We have stayed at this hotel several time and always enjoyed our stay. I don’t know if they changed the pillows but they were Way to puffy and caused neck muscle strain. That was the only complaint. Other wise it’s a great place, reasonably priced and very friendly people! We will use them again!!
