Had a good time, staff was good, but property needs better upkeep and better food
6.0Location was good, overall staff was pleasant. I was not pleased with food choices available, food was limited and did not provide a consistent authentic Jamaican cuisine throughout. A broad range of menus are always good, but still important to have authenticity to the land visited. The Rum barrel restaurant provided suitable cuisine which was fulfilling to the palate. Staff was also good, including bartender Leoneil who went beyond to make a good experience.
− The hotel grounds are still good, but needs to be updated a bit. Some locations were unattractive with weathering. Again, authentic dishes were not offered daily throughout the day. Having Jamaica day only on Saturdays is not useful to those who are not there that day. The Jerk Hut restaurant open for lunch did not fulfill its promise to offer jerk dishes. The food lacked simple flavors that should be present. The hotel did not offer an alternative to their no straws use, paper straws should have been offered as an alternative. Some folks require the use of straws.
