The room had all expected amenities and was clean.

− The spider situation was horrible. We were in the back part of the hotel and when we entered the building and walked up the handicap ramp inside, there were cobwebs and spiders on the hand rails. Inside the room itself, we opened the window and there were more cobwebs along with a black widow (HUGE) spider. Upon check out, we told the front desk and they seemed nonplussed.

− Old fashioned hotel, you need to cross to another building for getting your room. Pure water pressure, not enough light

Formal Complaint Regarding Check-In Experience at Radisson Hotel Corning

− Dear General Manager, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my check-in experience at Radisson Hotel Corning during the early hours of July 24. My family and I arrived at approximately 1:00 a.m. after a full day of driving. The front desk associate introduced himself as Andrew, the Night Auditor, and mentioned that he was training another night auditor. Unfortunately, what should have been a routine check-in became one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences of our trip across the United States. The first issue concerned identification. I presented my valid government-issued Uzbek driver’s license and asked Andrew to verify my reservation while I returned to my vehicle to retrieve my passport, where my wife and two young children were waiting. During our trip, every previous hotel had accepted my driver’s license for the initial verification process before I later presented my passport. However, Andrew refused to proceed in any way until my passport was produced. The second issue was far more concerning. Andrew informed me that a USD 100 incidental authorization had to be placed on a credit card. I explained that, because of previous difficulties reconciling authorization holds between U.S. merchants and my bank in Uzbekistan, I preferred not to use my credit card for incidental deposits. Instead, I offered a cash security deposit of USD 500, and even USD 1,000, which greatly exceeded the required amount and completely protected the hotel’s financial interests. Andrew repeatedly explained that hotel policy required a credit card and that he could not make any exceptions. I respected that he was explaining the policy as he understood it, but I continued asking whether there was an alternative solution or whether a manager could authorize an exception. I also informed him that I am a Radisson Rewards VIP member and was simply trying to find a practical solution rather than refusing to comply. What concerned me most was what happened next.
