Friendly staff, Comfortable bed, Avoid the restaurant if at all possible.
6.0Friendly staff! Nice room and comfortable bed. The restaurant fell down badly though. Our order took about 50 minutes to arrive. I ordered the "Coffee Bourbon NY Strip Steak" special. The steak was inedible. It tased like eating coffee grounds. The veggies were dry and had obviously spent spent a lot of time under a heat lamp. The next morning my sunny-side up eggs were served mostly raw and with runny egg whites white. The cooks are kinda faking it here. Eat some place else.
Quiet, Welcoming, Tucked Away
10.0I was in Santa Fe for work and had an excellent stay at La Posada. Hotel staff were absolutely lovely - super professional and welcoming. The property is quite traditional with beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Because this is a historic hotel, all the the rooms are a little different - I tended to think of this as a cool feature, rather than a negative - I end up staying in a lot of hotels for work, so the ones that stand out to me are the ones that are a bit unique. The pool area is really nice, and the pool is heated, so that was a nice thing to do in the evenings. I would also recommend the bar/restaurant patio. It's a great place to hang out in the evenings, next to one of the many firepits with a drink and a good book. The hotel property is fairly quiet and calm at night for sleeping as well.
A Mixed Experience but a Hotel with Potential
6.0We are very loyal to the Marriott brand and have stayed in a lot of properties all over the world. This hotel is an interesting one. I understand both the positive and negative reviews. Our stay wasn't perfect. This historic hotel has so much potential. It has an interesting history and beautiful artwork. It's also a very Southwestern property in an ideal location. We loved being able to walk into town. The breakfast for Titanium members was great and the staff was always super nice and helpful. But the rooms are not optimal. They are certainly dated, not particularly clean, and there are easy things that could be added to enhance the experience. For example, there is not enough storage in the bathroom with just a pedestal sink, but plenty of room for a bathroom vanity. Given there is only one sink in the bathroom, a make up mirror would also have been useful. It would also be so easy to add a charger near the beds. It doesn't seem like they have spent time thinking about what guests might want. We were on the second floor up a steep staircase and weren't told in advance at check in or offered any help with our bags. We were able to manage and could have certainly asked for assistance, but our room wouldn't have worked for everyone. Also, the valet when we arrived took about 15-20 minutes and was the only option. One day we were gone for almost seven hours and were disappointed that the room was being serviced at 5 PM right when we needed it. This could easily be a great property, but it's not right now! However, we don't regret staying here and would probably do so again for the convenience and the history.
Very Disappointed
2.0This hotel is very expensive. It’s very unique to Santa Fe. It took 2 trips to the front desk to housekeeping to clean our room. We had to delay our evening plans even though we gave them 5 hours to clean our room. Amenities were few and far between for such an expensive Santa Fe hotel. Suite bathroom was very small and very out dated. Very disappointed.
Hit and missed
6.0Arrival was good. Bellmen and valet in abundance. They were prompt and courteous. Check in, subpar. Our key didn’t work so had to truck back to front desk (100 yards X 2). Not a crisis but some minimal effort is to make sure keys work. Lunch was exceptional. We sat at the bar and the bartender was excellent. Also prompt and courteous. Food was a winner! I got pozole which was served hot and was delicious! Caroline had the beef street tacos. Also a winner. The room was a total loss. Obviously a heavy smoker spent many days wrecking the experience. Linens did not appear changed. They were wrinkled, some abstract hair and marks. Carpet dirty, caution tape to prevent tripping makes the room look like a crime scene. breakfast was also exceptional. Hot coffee and well prepared. Staff also prompt and courteous. Overall I would say a two but wanted to give the staff and kitchen respect. If we would rate just service and food, a solid 5! The room carries most weight with us on our experience. New owners? Go check out room 245 and let us know if you would sleep there more than one night? Break
Bring you own shampoo and soap
8.0Typical Autograph Collection Marriot. Nice accomodations, friendly and responsive service. Just over priced versus other opportunities in Santa Fe. The one negative..the ability to dispense more than one drop at a time of the shampoo and body wash in the shower was impossible. Be prepared to pump like crazy to get a suitable amount for washing. Better yet, bring your own shampoo and soap
