Poor air conditioning
6.0This hotel is beautiful, staff is friendly, and the breakfast is top notch. I am greatly disappointed moving forward. I had called before arriving to Paris in regards to the air conditioning working with the record breaking heat. I was assured the the air was working just fine. Once in our room the dial was on the coolest setting 20c but felt more like 80f We had a technician come to our room and it read 85 degrees We were showed a different room if we wanted to change, but it wasn’t any cooler. We were offered a fan which helped, but not acceptable for the price we paid. I was offered 10k points which is a joke considering there lowest Hilton property is not offered for 10k points and this hotel room is well over 100k points I also requested a 5 am wake up call which never happened. We could have missed our flight, but luckily our personal alarm worked.
Toch wel genoten

Uncomfortably warm hotel stay
6.0This hotel is a bit of an enigma. The best way to describe it is an old, regal hotel with a Hilton sheen on top, but the old comes bleeding through in a negative way. The service is classy, with doors held and a concierge, but the front desk is rarely actually helpful. Be warned if you reserve a regular room with a child or a third person they will not let you stay there or refund your reservation. This happened to us in spite of requesting a cot for our room well ahead of our stay. Instead, we had to pay for an upgrade to a suite. The suite was somewhat charming, but still very tight. Most importantly, the air conditioning in this hotel completely failed to fight the summer heat. In spite of added floor fans, all we could do was sleep on top of the sheets and sweat. The location is good in terms of being on a quiet street, but having many cafes within walking distance.

10.0Great location and wonderful staff.
− Very hot. There is AC but not enough. Make sure to request a fan in advance for summer visits.
Yikes Hilton!
2.0It is baffling that this property is associated with Hilton. It does not have a functioning AC system. I stayed at 3 hotels during a heat spell in France (2 in Paris, 1 in Marseille), and Maison Astor was the only hotel incapable of even slightly cooling the room. The room never got below 90 degrees. There is no management found onsite. If you have an issue, you will be relegated to emails with long delays. The management team, if you read closely in the reviews, keeps promising that fixes are in store soon. But this has been going on for years and they aren’t investing in the hotel to make it competitive. I also stayed at a much less expensive Marriott hotel, CitizenM, and it was leaps and bounds better than Astor. Maison Astor doesn’t have a backup generator, so we experienced one blackout for over 4 hours (not fun walking up 7 flights of stairs at 1am during a heat spell), and then again the next morning at breakfast. If you book this hotel, just know you are rolling the dice with weather. If it is warm outside, you will be warmer inside (like much of Paris, the hotel is built to retain heat and it does this very well). If you want to use your hotel to be refreshed before going out again, do not book at Astor. And Hilton does not help you or back you after booking: you will be up against the hotel managers (who are not present) to try and claw back possible finds and points. So after your vacation may be negatively impacted, you’re stuck up a creek. This hotel is clearly a strategy for Hilton to expand their presence in Paris, but it is creating the inverse effect.
A/C is worthless
6.0We booked this hotel due to its advertised air conditioning since we were visiting during the summer. The air conditioning is a joke. It fails to cool the whole room so you are constantly uncomfortable. It’s so poor that they offer fans upon request, so they know it’s an issue. Staff are nice and breakfast is good, but if you’re looking for a respite from the heat this place is not it.
