Bit like Fawlty Towers 😂🤣

6.0

Nice room although the shower holder was broken. Superwoman Jo was in effect running the whole premises by herself.

Bit like Fawlty Towers. Staff shortages and Indian style dinner not great. Poppadoms were good though. Superwoman Jo did her admirable best to satisfy customers including waitressing and cooking breakfast all by herself but resulted in us being late for our appointment.

Disappointing. Some modest improvements would make a big difference

The location was good and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We did not eat there so can't comment on the food. We had requested soya milk but there was none on the premises when we arrived. Some was delivered to our room during the evening and that was much appreciated, although it's a shame we had to do without when we arrived mid-afternoon.

Unfortunately, we had several issues that we emailed through to an address given by a staff member that was bounced back. We resent the message to the info address but we've had no reply, now for 4 weeks. Below is the guts of the email sent. Dear Sir/Madam I am writing to you following a stay at the Dog and Crook last weekend. Whilst the room had clearly been recently and tastefully redecorated, there were a few issues which we would like to bring to your attention: Safety Issues Fire Extinguisher being used as a door stop - to keep the door at top of outside stairs open. This contravenes Health and Safety rules. Fire extinguishers should be fixed to the wall with the appropriate fitting next to an official label detailing the type of extinguisher it is and, more importantly, what source of fire it can be used on. The label was obscured by being behind the open door. A full length mirror in the room was propped up in the corner with no attachment to the walls or the floor. Not safety glass. Again, this appears to contravene Health and Safety rules Only a level four for hygiene - we found this surprising in a place that seems to be a popular eatery. We are always a bit dubious about consuming food in any establishment without a level five rating. Other Issues BATHROOM Corner shelf in shower no longer attached to wall but fitting brackets still in place Bathroom light pull cord very grubby Bathroom Wall between mirror and basin had not been recently painted - unlike the rest of the room - so it looked darker and grubby. TEA AND COFFEE MAKING Kettle too big to fit under the taps - we had to use a glass to transfer water for tea and coffee. Two mugs not matching, one chipped No recycling bin for drink-making debris BEDROOM Main light bulb in bedroom not working - discovered on our return after evening out. Pillow protectors on three of four pillows. Only one chair - though plenty of room for two.

Good stay, very friendly venue. Rooms are clean and tidy, could do with aircon and thicker curtains

7.0

Quiet room, even though it's by a pub. Room has a ceiling fan. Clean bathroom, shower was good. Smart TV in the room (although on the smaller side). Very friendly staff :) Drawer with extra cables and adapters, which was a nice touch even though we didn't need them.

No aircon in very hot weather in recent weeks. No response from the venue to questions about this, but thankfully read reviews so brought fans with us. Curtains also very thin and let all of the light in.
