Een teleurstelling
4.0− Given the reviews and photos, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, they weren't met. We found our stay disappointing. Our three children slept in the new section, which was okay. But we, the parents, slept in the old section. The owner really needs to do some maintenance on several things, but at least on the bedroom in the old section. The room and bathroom smelled of mold. The bathroom was old, worn, unclean and had broken parts. Only a small used soap was left in the bathroom. The mattress on the very old bed was in really bad condition. Furthermore, there was a strange smell in the house. The two staffmembers did their best, sort off, but we didn't quite understand the manager's role and missed the true Sri Lankan hospitality. The manager was constantly nearby. We are not used to that and we value our privacy. Dinner and breakfast were poor. The poorest we've had in Sri Lanka and dinner was on the pricey side. At dinner, we asked for dessert (included at the menu). The manager then took a used container of ice cream from the freezer and put it in the kitchen. We were left to prepare the rest ourselves. Rockbourne was a further disappointment for us. In our opinion, the photos don't match really with the reality. Besides the beautiful garden, we enjoyed the chill-out area with the pool table. Otherwise, it was disappointing and, in our opinion, overpriced and overrated.
Comfortable but a little overpriced
8.0Comfortable spacious room and bad with many different common areas so easy to have privacy and enjoy even if the weather is bad. The chef and assistant were amazing - real Sri Lankan hospitality.
− The contact with the owner was not as warm as we were used to in Sri Lanka. No help or suggestions about what to do around the area. Quite difficult to get to if only going for one night. Cottage needs some maintenance especially the bathroom. A bit expensive compared to what we have experienced elsewhere in the country.

A colonial-style bungalow with modern entertainment—ideal for a vacation
9.0It's one of the best bungalows we've ever stayed in. Designed to resemble a colonial bungalow, it features many attic items, old pictures, and an overall colonial vibe. The amenities are impressive, including a gym, billiards, foosball, darts, chess, a home theatre system, and more—far exceeding our expectations. Only our two families were there that day, making the experience even more fantastic. The food was fabulous, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We also enjoyed a pleasant walk around the bungalow. There’s a hot tub near the pool, which unfortunately wasn’t working, but it was still a nice and enjoyable spot
− We traveled to the bungalow via Doluwa from Kandy. The road was narrow and not in great condition, making the journey quite challenging. In hindsight, we probably should have taken the Gampola route. Although we were two families staying in two rooms, we were told we could choose only one meal option for all meals, rather than different options from the menu, which was a bit disappointing. The meals were slightly expensive compared to other places, but given the remote location and the fact that the food was delicious, it didn’t bother us much
