I cannot even put better words to describe the service in this hotel. It’s literally impeccable. Everytime I requested sth, it literally showed up at my front door in 1 min (not even joking). The room was well cleaned and the bed was super comfy (I knew it was a good bed since I didn’t even need 6 hours of sleep and still felt amazing the next morning). On my reservation, it was a default booking for two people (by mistake) and they even thought ahead and prepared a sofa bed to me in advance. The waiter/waitress always looked around attentively to see if any guests needed anything for the breakfast. This hotel is literally my go to in Basel. While it’s not Les Trois Rois, I actually appreciated the large room space I had in this hotel much much more than the heated bathroom floor in Les Trois Rois 😂😂.

Great location for Art Basel, but overall just an okay stay

The biggest advantage of the Basel Marriott Hotel is its location. It's directly next to Messe Basel, the convention center that hosts Art Basel, making it an incredibly convenient place to stay if you're attending the fair. It's also easy to walk into the Old Town and explore the rest of Basel from the hotel. Overall, the hotel was comfortable and met our needs. The room was clean, and I appreciated the exterior blackout blinds, which made it easy to get a good night's sleep. My room, however, had a slanted ceiling that made it feel a bit like an attic, and despite being on an upper floor, there wasn't much of a view. One nice perk was the M Club lounge, which offered water, snacks, and light bites throughout the day. It was a convenient place to stop in between outings. The biggest disappointment involved the laundry service. I sent out a brand-new blouse that I'd only worn once to have a stain removed, and it came back with damaged fabric. The hotel waived the cleaning fee, which I appreciated, but they didn't offer to reimburse me for the damaged blouse. One other thing to note is that parking isn't on-site. If you're renting a car, the parking is several blocks away, which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, this was a perfectly fine stay. The location is excellent, especially for Art Basel, but given the very high room rates during the fair, I expected a bit more.

Das Zimmer war geräumig, das Bett sehr bequem.

− Beim Check-in fühlten wir uns als Schweizer eher deplatziert- die Begrüssung in Englisch, einFormular zur Unterschrift in Englisch. Auf die Frage nach einer Gästekarte: ein fragender Blick. Das Frühstück: kein dunkles Brot. Gipfel nicht geniessbar, fettig und brösmelig. Lachs wie ein Fladen hingelegt. Einfach lieblos. Kompliziert mit dem Tee und dem Kaffee: keine Selbstbedienung.

Die Lage ist top? Das Hotel ist fünf Gehminuten vom Messe Parkhaus und zehn zur Altstadt entfernt.

− Beim Check-in können sich Gäste, die sich als sehr wichtig sehen, rücksichtslos vordrängeln und werden vom Personal zuvorkommend behandelt. Das Frühstück Buffet entspricht nicht dieser Hotelkette. Die Qualität ist gerade mal Durchschnitt und die Speisen werden als Haufen dargeboten. Normalerweise ist das Frühstück bei der Marriott Kette immer top. Deshalb sind wir bereit, dafür mehr zu bezahlen. Basel scheint die einzige negative Ausnahme zu sein.
