Our hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Everything in the cottage was clean, neat, and tidy and the layout is very well planned. The landscaping is gorgeous and there was a sense of tranquility and peace about the property. What people need to know: This property can only accommodate two people. The space is tiny but functional. There is no oven. There are 2 gas elements on a little range. The fridge is bar sized and there is no pantry. There is a washing machine and a clothesline outside (our host had a couple of pods of washing soap available for our use and clothes pegs). There is a functional microwave, an air fryer, a George Foreman grill, and a slow cooker available for your use. Our hostess kindly had instant coffee, tea, milk, sugar, and cookies available for our use, a warm and welcome gesture that we appreciated when we landed with jet lag from a red eye flight. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. Towels and bed linens are provided as well as hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, dishrags and dish towels. You will need to bring your own wash cloth, shampoo, facial tissues (Kleenex) and hygiene products. Salt and pepper are in the cupboard. There is a small grocery store in Rothbury, the closest small town. If you want a big grocery store, go to Alnwick which is further out for Lidl, Sainsbury’s, or Morrison’s. Gas (petrol) is close by and is reasonably priced. The property is lovely, clean, and very functional for maximum two people. It is best to look at photos online to see the layout. It is very quiet (the pigeons will wake you in the morning, not the traffic), perfect for a tranquil getaway. I would highly recommend this property as a comfortable, reasonably priced, friendly place to stay and to relax on holiday. If you are the type who likes to party, look elsewhere.

− Having facial tissues, washcloths, and maybe a fly swatter for the frequent flies would make this place even better but overall I have no complaints and would readily stay here again in the future.

Exactly what we needed for a short break away in the countryside. Anne (the host) is delightful, and the space is perfect for two people and a dog. There is a pub within walking distance as well as some local countryside walks. Bonny Barn is a good base to explore Northumberland if you're looking for somewhere to retire to in the evening. We loved watching the bats and listening to the owls from the summerhouse.

− This isn't somewhere to stay if you want a heap of food/drinking options within walking distance as it's a very small village, but that's exactly what we wanted.
