On arrival we were shown to our rooms via a narrow corridor, that had supplies stored. This was the only exit so would definitely not meet current fire regulations. The room itself, described as superior, left a lot to be desired. The bed was low, damaged light fittings, a badly stained rustic shelf in the bathroom surrounded by a rusty metal grill. The shower cubicle was small and poorly maintained, with dirt in the surround and along the floor to wall joints. We were advised, once we had got into the room that there was a leak from the shower which dripped directly onto a table in the restaurant below!! So told we could not shower during restaurant opening. Had we been told this on arrival, we would not have checked in. Having spent the morning travelling and the afternoon in a funeral directors, we needed to rest. However this room was not as described and we never unpacked, we left after explaining to the staff of the above. Whilst they apologised, there was no offer of a refund. Therefore i cannot recommend this venue for an overnight stay.

Not at all what I was led to believe. The room I booked was small and noisy. The bathroom was clean, but a weird smell. I walked past the kitchen to go to my room and decided to eat out.

Nice pub and restaurant. Very underused possibly due to its lication but i will use it again when next in area

The member of staff who booked me in was great and was super helpful. As a place to stay, well i can see they work hard to keep on top of things and have tried hard to make the hotel welcoming, but the position, the busy road outside, which i now see noted by others ,.....well it wasnt what id hoped for. Its certainly not in any way terrible and i wouldnt want to put others off as may suit others, i suspect im more a travelodge/ premier inn kind of person so maybe not a match for my needs

The food in the restaurant was absolutely outstanding such a lovely venue and friendly staff, the rooms were beautifully presented however being such an old building it wasn’t noise proof so we could every movement during the night with squeaky floorboards and doors being banged, would stay again though.
