BEWARE; property as advertised on booking.com is not accurate. Attempted to navigate the property’s webpage but it doesn’t not offer an option in English.

Property lied about location and Booking.com falsely advertises location as in Kyoto. Traveled by bullet train over 8 hours from Tokyo to arrive at a location in Kyoto that did not exist for then the property to say we would not arrive in time to check in to our one day reservation for that night. Staff on property do not speak English. My family and I spent 2-3 more hours with the help of Kyoto police to try and translate with hotel staff to ask for a refund which was never accepted. Attempted to dispute charge with AMEX but was told Booking.com claims the charge is my responsibility although they are the ones that falsely advertised the property’s location that is over 6hours by bullet train away from Kyoto. Left to pay $1,500, lost an entire day of travel, and had to walk the streets of Japan with our luggage stopping by all nearby hotels searching for a last minute room so that we were not left on the streets.

I stayed for two nights on the Izu Peninsula at this hotel. The first day there was a typhoon, but afterwards the weather cleared up and I could enjoy a stunning view of Mount Fuji from both my room and the open-air onsen. The hotel itself is refined and elegant: very spacious rooms, a super comfortable bed, excellent high-quality food, and staff who are always attentive and helpful. The only downside is that the hotel is located quite far from the nearest station and town—but at the same time, this makes the atmosphere wonderfully peaceful

We had a really lovely stay here. We felt totally immersed in the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese Ryokan. The food was both delicious and always beautifully presented. We are really glad that we made this stop as part of our travels around Japan. Mount Fuji was mostly covered in isolated low level cloud, but we did get a gorgeous view once or twice. Points to note are that there are no other facilities other than your room and dining room which is accessed at set, pre agreed times. Early check in is not an option and there didn’t seem to be any English speaking staff when we needed help. There was nothing within walking distance but the hotel were able to arrange a cab so we could visit the gold mine for a few hours and lunch after arriving too early.

Cost & performance are just not right here !

4.0

Soaking in the outside bath with a view of Mt. Fuji, eating above average meals are the highlights. The staff, what few of them there are, seem to play multiple roles and do not engage with the guests. There are foreign staff but little to no English is spoken. The staff don't seem to talk to each other when they are in view. Very cold atmosphere at check in and check out and that wasn't because of the weather ! The service was just so lacking ! The room was not cleaned to a level that I was expecting. Hairs were seen in the cupboards and coffee stains on the table. The sheets on one of the beds looked dirty and had to be changed. Overall, I cannot justify at stay at this location if I am to consider the cost.
