Clean, open, very comfortable but they made you feel “special “

Not many choices of where to eat for families in walking distance. We like to park our car and not take it out again until we leave.

Evacuations & Lack of Safety Concern

2.0

Our recent stay at Hotel LBI from Saturday, July 11, 2026, through Sunday, July 12, 2026 was an experience worth warning other guests about. While we found the hotel itself to be beautiful, our overall experience was extremely disappointing and, more importantly, concerning from a safety standpoint. During our stay, the fire alarms falsely activated on two separate occasions. The first occurred during the late afternoon on Saturday, July 11, requiring guests to evacuate the building until the fire department determined it was safe to re-enter. While we understand that emergencies and equipment malfunctions can happen, what is unacceptable is that the same situation occurred again at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 12. Being abruptly awakened in the middle of the night and forced to evacuate the hotel in our pajamas was stressful enough. However, what was even more alarming was the complete lack of hotel staff present outside to assist guests, explain what was happening, provide updates, or help calm understandably frightened individuals. Guests were left standing outside in confusion and uncertainty until the fire department eventually gave the all-clear. After the first false alarm earlier that day, additional precautions and protocols should have been implemented to ensure guests were properly supported should another incident occur. Instead, there appeared to be no plan whatsoever. For a hotel stay costing over $1,000 for a single night, this level of preparedness—or lack thereof—is completely unacceptable. Guest safety should be the highest priority, and unfortunately, we left feeling that it was not. To make matters worse, when we checked out the following morning, not a single staff member acknowledged what had occurred overnight. There was no apology, no explanation, and no recognition that guests had experienced two emergency evacuations within less than 24 hours. That lack of communication and accountability only compounded our disappointment. Unfortunately, our concerns did not end there. During valet retrieval, we were initially brought the wrong vehicle and handed its keys. We could have easily driven away in someone else’s car had we not realized the mistake. We also noticed that the valet ticket did not match the names provided when the vehicles had originally been dropped off. As we waited, it became apparent that several other guests were experiencing similar confusion. This represented yet another significant safety and security concern that should never occur at a hotel of this caliber. We chose Hotel LBI expecting a luxury experience and, above all, a safe one. Instead, we encountered multiple serious lapses in emergency response, communication, and vehicle security. These incidents significantly impacted our stay and fell far below the standard we expected.

Nightmare with chaos when their emergency generators wouldn’t turn on

2.0

Stayed here over 4th of July weekend and was due to check out today. The power when out in the hotel last night due to a passing storm. The emergency back up generators never came on. The fire department and police came to rescue guests from the stuck elevators. The hotel was pitch black and only returned in the lobby over an hour after the original black out when an employee found and used a car jumper pack to turn the generator on (I’m dead serious a car jumper pack). I was traveling with a baby and had to change her in a pitch black extremely hot lobby with glow sticks and a cell phone light. While all this was happening it was chaos in the hotel and no water or anything was handed out by staff. When they did finally get the emergency generator on it was strictly for the lobby. We went up to our room and packed in the dark and left because there was no light or ac in the rooms with no time frame of when it would be back. The lobby though had lights had zero air conditioning so we made the decision to leave at 12:30am (3 hours+ since it originally went off) because of the safety of my family and infant child. They didn’t even provide water or anything for the hours that we were in the dark. I spoke to the Manager at Hotel LBI this morning and she claimed it was an act of god so nothing can be done compensation wise but the problem is that there emergency generator didn’t turn on immediately and took over an hour to turn on and had to be jumped started with a jump start kit. The way the situation was handled by the Hotel was unacceptable and they were not prepared what so ever for an emergency of the chaos inside the pitch black hotel. That’s on the hotel not an act from god. That’s where I draw the line at act of god and readiness for an emergency. Unfortunately I will not be stay at Hotel LBI or their sister properties (The Boat Yard - Boat Houses, The Blvd, Spray Beach Oceanfront, The Mainland Hotel) in the future because the are not prepared what so ever for emergencies and put families especially with young ones at a major risk by not being prepared for emergencies. No compensation, no water handed out, no answers from the hotel just “act of god” even though THEIR emergency generator didn’t turn on. It’s unacceptable especially being one of the most expensive Hotel on the island. If you have a family and looking to book this hotel or a stay at their sister properties just know they are not prepared for emergencies and will be potentially putting you family and children at a serious risk.

Mediocre at 5 star prices

4.0

A spiffed up motel at 5 star hotel prices. Staff are total amateurs. Not on or near the beach. Huge billing errors that took them weeks to solve. Manager does not return calls or emails. It's slim pickings on LBI, so they get away with it. Can't wait for some more competition on the island.

Beautiful property, huge room, fun times!

10.0

Staying here felt very luxe from the moment we rolled up. The lobby and store they have on site is lovely and well stocked. Our room was huge with high ceilings overlooking the pool and my son was in awe. I loved the full size fridge and kitchenette. We ate at Salt in the evening (delicious) and breakfast in the main living area twice. One caveat is we stayed the first weekend in the summer and it felt like the servers everywhere were just getting trained. Food service was a little disjointed/disorganized although everything tasted great. The shuttle to and from the beach was a welcome plus.
