10.0− Stay was wonderful- front desk needs some work!! Didn’t really tell us much didn’t let us know there were chairs we could take the beach even though we asked directions to the beach!! Not very helpful barely said hello besides that it was great!
Sadly disappointing
6.0My family has been going here forever, but I was still thrilled to hear about the new owners in 2019. The update was wonderful. Good decor, cozy sitting room off the lobby. We went back for Easter this year and wow, what a decline! Our room had chipped paint, no hangers in the closet and two plastic cups in the bathroom. Top 40 music was blasting on a speaker 2 feet from our room. Decor was Home Goods. The hotel seemed sadly empty the night before Easter, so we chose to eat elsewhere in Westerly. Easter Brunch the next day was very disappointing for the price. Cold quiche, watery scrambled eggs. It makes me very sad. Maybe the enthusiasm from the new owners has waned. Also, the lovely sitting room where we would sit in front of a fire and have a cocktail is now somebody’s office. This property has so much potential, but we won’t come back until it is fixed up.
Like coming home
10.0Shelter Harbor Inn is always like coming home again! The Inn staff is warm helpful efficient and friendly. The menu is consistent with really nice daily specials. The beautiful fireplace is always roaring with warmth and beauty, it is the original farmhouse fireplace, check out that keystone! Bartender Kara Will expertly fill your every drink choice. I recently hosted a group there and we all enjoyed lovely afternoons. Thank you staff
Big Fan of Shelter Harbor Inn
10.0I've now stayed at the Shelter Harbor Inn three times. It's a charming property that was built in 1800. The interior of the main building has been updated very tastefully while still retaining all of its historic charm. They provide breakfast every morning and there's a restaurant on the property as well as a small bar (although I haven't actually eaten at the restaurant). The rooms were quite clean. I most recently checked in on a Thursday and checked out on a Sunday. Recently they have been hosting a swing dancing event on Thursday evenings. They offered to move me to a newer outbuilding because of the noise, but I opted to stay in the main building because I prefer the historic property and the dance event didn't run particularly late. The inn keepers are all very helpful.
Pleasant stay. Cleanliness just OK.
6.0− Room was musty smelling and accent pillows were tattered. Likely due to pet friendly room. Breakfast ok. Would recommend egg option at least hard boiled.
It was a lovely weekend getaway hunting trolls
9.0I like the location and being able to get up and run without having to travel anywhere im the car. The location was at the beginning of the road to a nice neighborhood with with a salt marsh at the end. I liked the ambiance of the building and room we were in. We were there to see the Thomas Dambo trolls and was a great location to do that.
− The bed wasn't super comfortable but wasn't bad. It was quite warm in the room but we probably could have turned the mini split off.
