Lodge at The Old Barracks♡

If you are visiting anywhere near Athenry, stop by the Old Barracks to eat, or better yet to stay!

The Old Barracks was beyond what we had expected! The facilities were nice, clean, & well located for our purposes. Every staff member we interacted with from the restaurant team at breakfast to those who helped check us in were fabulous. Truly kind, helpful, & made it obvious that they wanted our stay to be great. The food was also truly delicious! The daily breakfast options were wonderful & with a great variety. The pizza at the restaurant below the lodge was also delicious! Our only complaint is not being able to stay longer!

− A fan in the room would have been beneficial our first night as it was a bit warm.

Das ganze Personal war ausnehmend freundlich. Das Frühstück hat ausgezeichnet geschmeckt. Sehr gute Lage, man erreicht in wenigen Minuten den Bahnhof und die Sehenswürdigkeiten des Ortes.

I would make go elsewhere

The reception staff were always friendly, polite and helpful. The young women serving breakfast were also lovely. To the hotel's credit, we were moved to a room with air conditioning in the newer part of the hotel for our second night. These rooms are normally much more expensive, but we weren't charged extra, which we appreciated. The newer section felt like a completely different hotel and was a significant improvement over the older part

− The first room in the older part of the hotel was extremely uncomfortable. Although it was a little warm outside, it certainly wasn't a heatwave, yet the room became unbearably hot. Fans were provided, but they were very poor quality and made little difference. The first room also had almost no water pressure. Housekeeping was inconsistent. The rooms were supposed to be serviced daily, but on one day our room was simply forgotten. Breakfast lacked consistency. Ordering the same item on different mornings sometimes resulted in a meal that was literally half the size, which was frustrating. Considering the price we paid, I expected a much better overall experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn't choose to stay here again.
