A very expensive stay for what we experienced
6.0We liked the spaciousness of the cottage. We liked breakfast, and how close this was to all the amazing views and hikes around Myvatn.
− We got there a little late, around 20:30. I did not immediately see the keys left for us on the reception counter, so I called for someone as the TV was on and I could hear someone walking around. A very grumpy old man snapped "what do you want" at me before pointing to the keys. Way to greet people. The cottage got insanely hot during the day while we were out. Because of all the flies (which we understand are part of the landscape) we couldn't really open doors and windows so we sweated inside from 19:00 until nightfall, which wasn't until 23:00. Simply having a fan available in the cottages would make a big difference. Considering this was our most expensive stay in Iceland by some margin, I can say we were a bit disappointed by the experience.
