Overpriced for dated rooms and neglected landscape.
6.0Very disappointing stay. It’s aging and needs an update in rooms. Landscape is neglected. Pool area is dated and not private. Looks onto parking lot; should have a lovely ivied wall. Lobby is great! Excellent music and vibe every evening. Location is great with lots of excellent restaurants across street or within walking distance.
More like L'Amazing
10.0In town for a wedding at Power House Park with an afterparty of Jimmy O's, L'Auburge was the most perfect location for our week in Del Mar. This was our second stay and it was just amazing as the first. The room was clean and got plenty cool during the heatwave (hello in room ceiling fan), the bed and linens were comfortable and clean, and the staff was 10/10. Amanda with front office, Michael with housekeeping, Miguel with engineering, Doug with beach valet, and Sean with valet were all so kind and really helped make our stay 5 stars. We also made time for an 80 minute massage and wow, Mary and Kelly deserve a review all of their own - ask for either one if you need some true relaxation. Thanks, LDM! We hope to see you again.
Very Nice Location But Will Not Go Back
6.0Wedding Weekend -> We felt the hotel was nice and the location was great, but the overall customer experience was average to below-average, especially given the high cost. We stayed there the night we got married and were given a room that sat directly next to the wedding venue area. We woke up to people constructing scaffolding for the next wedding, and it pretty much lasted all day. That was both Friday and Saturday. Our room had zero privacy, as we couldn't sit on the balcony or even open our windows without 8-10 workers having a direct line of sight into our room from less than literally 5ft away. The reservation process was very cumbersome, and they really didn't listen to us. We checked out and were told we'd be charged for a $500 spa day my wife didn't reserve or attend. We also never received a receipt to even confirm what we paid for (and still haven't). I get that there are weddings at the hotel, but that shouldn't detract from other people's stay. It's a great location but not worth the price to us. We are pretty unlikely to stay again.
Charming
10.0Was only here for one night for business, but I really liked the place. Beautiful, airy lobby. Small but nice pool area. Quick walk to the beach. Service overall was very good. Had one meal here and it was solid. Hotel is older so it has winding hallways and is easy to get spun around. But its charming and in good shape for its age.
closer to a 3 star hotel
4.0This is definitely a glorified motel...not typical "auberge". The hotel does not have the facilities to accommodate. The pool is overcrowded. If you book on Amex fine hotels don't expect an upgrade ---overall it's not luxury but fine place. Super pet friendly which is nice
Relaxing, fun and easy
10.0Beautiful hotel, stay there several times a year. Rooms are great, the resturant, bars are always great with great service. Fun place to just relax and do nothing
