Good, But Could Have Been Great!

We wanted a resort-style hotel near the beach for our five-day getaway from the Summer heat of Palm Springs. We also wanted to meet up with our daughter and son-in-law, so they drove down from Northern California to join us. Overall, the hotel met our objectives, so we gave it 4/5 stars. The rooms are very nice, with the benefit of two bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower. They came equipped with microwaves, a small refrigerator, a wet bar, and a Keurig coffee maker. The hotel is also dog-friendly. An added touch is that the underground parking puts you right underneath the building where your room is located, so it is easy to get luggage to your room. No need for valet parking. The hotel is located right on the beach, with nice walkways that take you out to the sand dunes, where seating is available to just sit and watch the ocean. You can't beat the location. What kept the hotel from getting the full five stars was the food options and service lapses. There is one traditional restaurant, Ox and Ocean, and a trailer setup, Sugar Beats. Ox and Ocean has good food, but the menu is limited, and the service is very slow. The waitstaff is nice and has a positive vibe, but their lack of customer service training shows. One problem with staying in Oxnard is that it is not really a tourist destination like Santa Barbara, so there is a dearth of off-site restaurants to choose from. The food prices are high, but we expect that when we are on vacation. You have to weigh convenience versus cost and how you want to spend your time. Also, housekeeping did not clean our rooms daily, but we did get fresh towels upon request. Another negative is that, while the pool is very nice, it is filled with small children from dawn to dusk. If you are a family with small children, this is your hotel, but we opted not to use the pool. It would have been impossible to do any real swimming. We did get a nice room upgrade as Diamond members. One small annoyance was the clanging of a metal gate underneath our room that accessed the pool area. Our two rooms both had nice decks to sit and just enjoy the beautiful weather in July.

The location is great. It’s right on the beach right near Hollywood Beach, which is absolutely beautiful.

− As you walk into the lobby, you think oh my gosh, this is a beautiful resort. Then you make your way to your room and notice the resort has not been updated at all. The lanai behind the pool smells and is algae filled is absolutely disgusting. Our room had a beautiful view right on the beach, but the inside was so dirty, outdated, the couch is worn and the carpet is not clean. Very disappointing, especially since we paid over $1200 for two nights on a Sunday Monday. There’s technically only one restaurant on site which has a very limited menu and it’s expensive so Hilton really needs to readjust the prices or update these rooms to fit that beautiful lobby.

A jewel by the sea

We knew it was there, because we had stayed there many years before...but that was before. Before the incredible transformation hilton performed..more than simple plastic surgery...or a mommy makeover...this was magic...they rose the bar so high...there was no more bar..Just splendor and sky.. Driving up to the resort is breath taking..with a large cascading..fountain over spilling its borders..the outside architecture Still revealing its mission style roots Yet clearly ..a fusion of modern components as well Cecilia..check us in with surprise Upgraded suite.. she was incredible and good to her word. The room suite had a 2nd floor balcony..nestled under the canopy of a large coral giant..the rooms have been completely reimagined..and brag impressive sqare footage and family room area. The resort is amoung the small fraternity of resorts that reside On sand ...in perfect harmony With the pacific ...that gleam An say...this is what im talking about Bed we're sumptuous..and swallowed you in pillows..like designer had a convention..and thought of everthing... The resort had several fine dining Internal locations and a number of laid back alternative Yes it was my birthday...and what a place...what a time to be had..6star out of five...what a discovery
