1.0The location
− Everything! We checked in the room smelled of mold. We went out for the afternoon and when we came back in the evening, the room still smelled and the shower knob was not working. I called the front desk to ask if they could change our room and I was told the property was sold out! Was told they would send maintenance to our room but had to call him because he was at another hotel. Once he arrived to his rude.. He asked us why we didn’t call the front desk as soon as we checked in to complain of the smell. And then made us feel stupid when he came to the room and was able to turn the knob in the shower, which we try to do, but it was pretty much on so tight! We didn’t even have any breakfast that was included at the hotel as nothing was fresh! Was told I’d check in that they come to service the rooms every other day! Just overall disappointed! The rooms were not cheap and the service was terrible. I would never recommend this to anyone. The only good thing I have to say is that it was close by to everything.
Decent economy hotel
8.0I was told that this is Hilton’s entry into economy hotels. It had a good price – especially in an area in which there aren’t a lot of good reasonably priced alternatives. We would stay here again. Room in this hotel was tight. The front lobby is really small. The elevator is right next to the front desk, which makes it a tight fit to get in and out of. The room isn’t bad. The sink was outside of the bathroom. The tub and toilet were tight. The refrigerator was smaller than average. Breakfast was very basic – bagels/toast and cereal. There was also yogurt and fruit. The hotel also had a menu to order off for extra. The desk clerk was really nice. In addition, we had an issue with the toilet and maintenance came right up and fixed it.
Suitable for families, not older couples
6.0We were looking for a one-night stay in Mystic and didn't need anything too fancy because we were going to be out touring most of the time. We chose Spark based on the Hilton brand, and as a bonus it wasn't as expensive as other area hotels. Our reservation was for a king room with a sofa bed, but when we got to the room it was a two queen room instead. Since we had already hauled our luggage up the stairs, we decided not to go back down to the busy reception area to request another room. The room was clean and the bedroom area was your typical size and quality, but the bathroom was so tiny. So small in fact that the sink was outside of the bathroom. The hotel was also quite noisy with a lot of door banging during the night hours. On the upside, we were expecting only bagels and coffee for breakfast, but there were also muffins, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juice and some fruit. The hotel is suitable for families, but we realize we've become spoiled and will spend the extra money for a more upscale hotel the next time we're in Mystic.
Stomping above us kept us awake, but staff moved us to top floor
4.0Staff was nice and helpful and the pool was nice and clean.
− Bed’s uncomfortable, walls and floor super thin / noisy, breakfast was terrible
Affordable, clean and friendly place to stay!
10.0Yes it's a motel but probably the best motel I have ever stayed in. My only real complaint is that the door between the rooms to make them adjoin if a group wanted to should be made more sound proof. Otherwise, all the staff were so friendly and helpful, location is great, pool was very nice (though the towels could be bigger), the breakfast was spot on for a contenintal in a motel, and best of all - it was very very clean! I had very low expectations and used a combination of points for two nights and paid full price for a third for my husband and two young kids - have already recommended it to friends. Exactly what one should expect - a motel with Hilton behind it (though honestly I've stayed at "fancier" Hiltons for more money that were not as nice!). The only local hotel with a Mystic Aquariam discount doesn't hurt either!
Would stay again but rooms could use deep cleanings.
6.0Great location. Plenty of parking.
− Continental breakfast ran out of certain items and were unable to be replaced (staff stated they were out of stock). The air filters in the a/c unit were filthy and the rooms were not vacuumed during routine cleanings.
