Great Lake Motel Taupo♡

Well presented hotel close to town and lake

We walked into this hotel at lunchtime when we arrived and were lucky to get the last room. I would recommend booking ahead as we found the motel very congenial. The motel is just over the road from the lake. It is very convenient to town being easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The hosts were very nice and obviously took a lot of pride in the motel. Our room was on the ground floor with a parking space in front. It was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated with dark carpet and terracotta titles. It came with one queen bed, a single bed and couch as well as a table and three chairs. Extra pillows and blankets (while not needed) were easily findable. There is a kitchenette with sink, stove-top, minifridge, microwave, coffee/tea making, cutlery and crockery. The charging spots by the bed were not ideal but we were able to use the outlets by the table and the coffee table instead. I liked the touch lamps. The air conditioner worked fine and was silent. We appreciated that as some of our NZ hotels did not have air conditioning at all so we didn't take it for granted. It has an excellent luggage storage alcove with hanging space. The bathroom has both a shower (with its own ceiling) and a triangular spa. We actually used both and they worked well.

Down for the McCartney football tournament. Location was convenient to all the shops and dinning options. Clean and tidy with well serviced amenities.

Highly recommend this accommodation. Arrived late and they were able to accommodate and also the room was warm and toasty with the heatpump going after arriving from a cold storm. The beds were comfortable, TV worked a treat. And the bath was lovely after a long day of driving. The shower has perfect strong pressure also. The beds have electric blankets, which we didn't use as the room itself was already nice and warm. There was coffee and milk items and cooking area if you needed which we didn't use. We had to park in another rooms carpark as someone had parked in ours. But due to arriving so late it seemed to be okay as a one off. The view is so nice directly looking at the lake and so close to town, less than 1min walk and you are there.

Very good place to stay in Taupo. Clean, tidy, everything worked. It was well above our expectations for the cost. Very close to the centre and just across the road from the lake. I will definitely stay there again when next in Taupo.
