Front desk employees are scammers with a local spa
2.0I stayed here for one night with some friends and did the day trip up to Machu Picchu. We returned to the hotel on Wednesday March 25 at 12:00 and encountered Lorena at the front desk. After we got back, we asked to the front desk for a recommendation for a massage. The person working at the front desk was named Lorena and she recommended Amaya Inka Spa. Someone from the spa came and got us and we went and when we asked how much the cost was for 3 one hour foot massages she told us it was 50 soles each, 150 soles total. I pulled up my phone on my currency converter and I showed her in Peruvian currency 50 soles just to confirm the price and she agreed. After the massage was over she told us it is $50, or $150 USD. I asked her to call our hotel for some assistance and between myself, Lorena, and the Katherine at the massage place we were able to negotiate the price of 80 soles each or 240 soles total. We paid her in cash which she seemed satisfied with, but this was clearly a scam. It is obvious Lorena who the person working at the front desk of Hotel Wirachocha who recommended the massage service at Amaya Inka Spa were in on this scam together. It is really disappointing that you can’t even trust someone working at a hotel to give you good recommendations. I would stay away from this hotel as the front desk are scammers. The photo is of the woman at the spa who scammed us
