A stunning location for a grand and impressive hotel
8.0I have stayed at Trianon Palace Versailles twice previously and continue to return, which says a great deal given the exceptional standard of hotels in and around Paris and Versailles. The hotel has a wonderful sense of grandeur, balancing its rich heritage with a calm and understated elegance. The public spaces are beautifully proportioned, the dining areas are refined yet welcoming, and the atmosphere throughout encourages you to slow down and savour your surroundings. Its location, on the edge of the Palace of Versailles grounds, only adds to the sense of occasion, making every stay feel rather special.
− There are a few areas where the experience could be improved. The indoor pool is beautifully presented, but the water temperature is simply too cold to be truly enjoyable. Raising it by a couple of degrees would make a noticeable difference. Likewise, some of the interior finishes have remained unchanged throughout the years I have been visiting. Whilst the hotel retains its elegance, a thoughtful refurbishment in certain areas would ensure it continues to meet the expectations of a luxury destination. The only disappointing aspect of our stay concerned the service on the outdoor terrace. We asked if it would be possible to have coffee served there and were initially told this wasn't possible. My response was simply, "You're a large hotel, please make it happen. It shouldn't be an issue." The request was ultimately accommodated, but unfortunately it was done with a level of reluctance that was impossible to ignore. The member of staff serving us on the terrace made us feel as though we had inconvenienced him, and his attitude felt unnecessarily dismissive for what was a very straightforward request. It stood in stark contrast to the warmth and professionalism shown by the rest of the team, who were excellent throughout our stay. One of the hotel's greatest advantages is its proximity to the town itself. A pleasant stroll brings you to the vibrant Marché Notre-Dame district, where you'll find an abundance of excellent cafés, bistros and restaurants. Rather than feeling obliged to dine in the hotel, you can enjoy some genuinely outstanding local food at fair prices, avoiding some of the rather average hotel fare we witnessed, inconsistent service and premium pricing that hotel dining of this nature can sometimes command.
