The location was right on the beach.

− Arranged airport transfer arriving at 10:30pm and nobody picked us up. When I rang the hotel they just hung up on me and when I rang back they said no one is available to pick us up.

We recently stayed in a two-bedroom private pool villa and came away pleasantly surprised. After reading a lot of bad reviews, our expectations were fairly low, but we genuinely really enjoyed our stay. The resort has a fantastic beachfront location in a quieter area of Seminyak. The tropical grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and the villas are incredibly spacious. We originally stayed in Villa 107, which is directly beachfront and has a beautiful position. We later moved to Villa 111, which we highly recommend. It felt much more private, secure and contained, which was especially important travelling with children. The Sunset Beach Mrs Sippy Beach Club being connected to the resort was a real highlight. While it is a separate business, it feels like an extension of the hotel. As a hotel guest you are able to access and book any of the daybeds without paying the usual minimum charges. Take towels from your room so you don’t need to rent them from the beach club. I suggest securing pool lounge chairs early after breakfast before they book out. It has beautiful Bali island vibes, great décor and excellent service. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for a beach club. Having access to this really elevated the stay. Breakfast was à la carte with a selection of eggs, omelettes, bacon, pastries and other breakfast options. The resort restaurant is not open for dinner, but it has good breakfast and lunch choices at a lower price point than the beach club. We loved that food and drinks from the resort restaurant could also be delivered while relaxing by the pool. The staff were another major highlight. Save the resort WhatsApp number (+62 813-3730-2556), as we used it throughout our stay and found the team incredibly responsive and helpful. Bali travel tip: Download the MyBluebird app before you arrive. It makes getting taxis much easier, shows the price upfront and avoids negotiating fares.

− The resort is definitely showing its age, and our villa had some maintenance issues including peeling paint, rust, damaged timber, uneven walkways and broken tiles. We also had a sulphur smell from the water when running the taps, but this was fixed during our stay. Villa 107, while beautifully located, was quite noisy until around 10pm every night due to nearby beach clubs. We also found it felt a little exposed, with pathways at the back connecting through to other villas, which made us less comfortable travelling with children. The staff were very helpful and installed a safety fence for us, but Villa 111 felt like a much better fit. The entrance is currently a construction zone, which doesn’t make the best first impression. However, once inside the resort you don’t see or hear the construction, and you can access the street easily through the beautiful beach club entrance. Overall, we think this resort comes down to expectations and value. It is not a brand-new luxury resort, but the huge villas, beachfront location, beautiful grounds, wonderful staff and Mrs Sippy access make it a fantastic option. We would happily stay here again and feel it offers an excellent combination of space, location and experience for the price.

Die Lage am Strand und die Poolanlage sind sehr schön. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit aber vgl. unten

− Die Villa selbst war ebenfalls schön, aber lieblos eingerichtet. Einzig ein Baldachin über dem Bett (wegen den Mücken), sonst nichts. Die Homepage gaukelt eine schöne 5* Anlage vor. In Tat und Wahrheit ist es eine riesige Baustelle (der gesamte Bereich der Reception). Wir waren sehr enttäuscht, das wir vor ein paar Jahren da waren und es so toll war. Ins besonders das Frühstück war damals ein gigantisches Buffet, nun gab es eine schlichte Auswahl von continental, american oder indonesisch. Ein Pancake sollte extra bezahlt werden, was der Manager dann am nächsten Tag aufgehoben hat.... Zum Thema Sicherheit: Der Villenbereich konnte nicht geschlossen werden. Auf Nachfrage wurde ein Holzstück gebracht, welches wenigstens bei der Anwesenheit von Innen eingehängt werden konnte. Es gibt kein Telefon, mit welchem man die "Reception" kontaktieren könnte.... Leider geht auch der gesamte Charm der alten Tage verloren. Früher konnten hier Ruhesuchende mit etwas Abstand zu Kuta/Legian den Strand geniesse. Jetzt wurde vor dem Hotel eine "Party-Bar-Anlage" gebaut, Dauerbeschallung von 10.00 - 22.00 Uhr. Unsere Villa lag genau dahinter... Die Bettlaken und die Handtücher waren nicht sauber.... Das gesamte Packet entspricht höchstens 2 bis 3 Sternen, aber niemals 5-Sterne, was auf der Homepage und auch bei booking.com angepriesen wird!

The beach club out the front is it’s saving grace

− It’s under TOTAL renovation, it’s a building site, literally. Only the villas are acceptable. The entire rest of the hotel is under construction, no reception etc.
