Stayed at DoubleTree Alana Oahu (Room 820). During our stay, we found what appeared to be a bed bug on the fold-out couch, documented with photos and video. Shortly after, my wife, two daughters, and I all developed multiple bite marks. The hotel later denied it was a bed bug, but provided no explanation for how all four of us developed consistent bites during the stay in the same room where the insect was found. The issue was not properly investigated or addressed. There were also cleanliness concerns including a stained bed, worn furniture, and a persistent unpleasant smell. A sewing needle was also found on the floor, which caused a foot injury. Overall, serious concerns about cleanliness, safety, and pest control. I would not stay here again.

Hilton prices but the service doesn’t stack up

Located near a busy and noisy intersection, this hotel doesn’t really provide good value for money. While the beds are comfortable, the rooms are fairly small. My biggest grief was with the reception staff, who really struggle to bring the Aloha spirit. While quick to take your credit card, they make no effort to explain the charges they are applying to it. There is an absurd “resort fee” on top of your booking, when all they provide is a pool and small gym room. It also took them well over one week to refund the $100 holding charge, which is way too long, compared with other hotels in Waikiki. It is also located a bit further from the Waikiki hub, so it’s quite a hike to access good food options. There is a grubby little cafe downstairs which is not really an option and the overpriced breakfast in the hotel restaurant is only an option if the company is picking up the tab. Much better options available, just down the road a bit.

Thank you for another great stay. I have 10+ stays at this Hotel. Their staff is amazing, from the valet to the restaurant. Shout out to Kim at the front desk. Kim is the staff's out-right shining star. I have stayed at Hilton properties around the world, she is the most courteous, pleasant and helpful front desk staff I have met. Kudos Kim, we'll done!
