Misleading entry on booking.com Ensuite rooms and nothing else, avoid until refurbishment finished.
5.0We opted to book The Green Man because on Booking.com, it was listed as a pub with a restaurant and accommodation. My husband aldo remembered it from when he used to live locally. The accommodation was clean and a good size, with a lovely shower too, although the water temperature was tepid at best. There were tea and coffee making facilities. Unfortunately, it's was far from being what we expected, and what the description stated.
− We paid £99 for the accommodation on booking.com upon booking, as we were travelling up from Dover. We specifically wanted to stay at a place with food, drink and accommodation, so we didnt have yo drive again that day. We arrived, as we had said, at 8.15pm. The pub was shut. There were lights on in the garden area, and a lot of crates and boxes all over. There were cars on the car park. The pub had a sign saying "closed for refurbishment". There was no answer on the phone number listed. We knocked on doors, but there was no answer. Just as we were leaving, someone came out of a side door. We were told the accommodation was available, but nothing else. We were too tired to argue, so we checked in. We were told if we drove to their sister pub, which was 7km away, we could have a 33% discount. It was now 9pm. We did this, because there was no alternative on a Saturday evening. The food was good, but expensive at £20 for burger and fries! It didnt help that when we got back there were people sat outside the accommodation with tins of drink and music. It was more like a camp site, with boxes and crates everywhere. Also having to drive to find breakfast at 7.30am on a Sunday morning isn't the best way to start a long journey back home.

6.0Location close to our wedding venue
− Dated decor and upkeep…
Adequate for a quick visit
6.0Handy for the function we were attending over the weekend
− Dated decorations, lack of wardrobe, general upkeep… Toaster broken in kitchen so toast off the breakfast menu!

2.0− The property are yet to offer a partial refund for the shower being broken in our room! We booked the room for a business trip and couldn’t have a shower - we could only have a bath. They have still not responded to the refund request
Despite the short term upheaval the new owners will no doubt continue to make a success of it
8.0Good location the new owners were most welcoming
− The fact that there were refurbishments going on - however this is temporary
