We used 3 bedrooms in this house for 5 days, having traveled from overseas for a funeral. Each room has a key code access to allow for shared occupancy. The bedding was clean and the water was hot.

− There was an overpowering pungent, bad smell (similar to burned fat) throughout our stay, very noticeable when we entered the property. We chose the house on the basis of self-catering, but what transpired was limited cooking utensils and pans etc, the oven produced a disgusting smell when turned on (it was filthy), and the communal sitting areas in the kitchen and living room small had limited seating. We did not cook at all in the house. No dishwasher or tea towel (we had to request latter). The basics were sparse, poor and shabby. The bathroom and over-bath shower, though functional, had mould around several fixtures. There was snow and ice outside and although the heating was adequate, it was controlled remotely by the owner (we had to contact them to adjust it). Off-road parking is in a small area a couple of minutes down the road, but the spaces are limited, used by the locals and are often full. The road outside is double yellow-lined, and it was busy. The rental cost was very high for what the house provided, there are several other places locally offering better value and quality. The owners also request copies of ID (personal information) via WhatsApp and a 200 pound ‘damage’ deposit (eventually returned after a couple of weeks). This house is OK if you want a very basic dorm-style room located in a council estate for a night, a feed of beans on toast, and a walk to a local pub, but is not great for a group looking for a nice place to rest-up, cook and enjoy some down-time.
