9.0Wij hebben een upgrade genomen van Garden Wing naar Ocean Wing. Het was al behoorlijk prijzig, maar we lieten ons verleiden om voor een paar honderd euro meer écht luxe te zitten. Dat bleek een goede beslissing. Ik had hoge verwachtingen van Shangri-La maar Garden Wing bleek een soort all inclusive resort te zijn: druk, kleine kamers en rijen voor het breakfast buffet. Ocean voldeed wel aan mijn verwachting, maar daar betaalden we dan ook de hoofdprijs voor (ruime kamers, heerlijk (rustig) ontbijt, apart (rustig) zwembad zonder glijbanen ed. Al met al heerlijke dagen gehad, maar de prijs kwaliteit verhouding klopt niet helemaal.
− Er zijn verschillende restaurants waaronder een soort van food court waar je a la carte kan eten. We hebben daar meerdere malen een uur op ons eten moeten wachten. Het is het allemaal net niet. De overige restaurants zijn zeer prijzig. Wij hadden andere verwachtingen van Shangri La. Meer klasse. Tijdens het ontbijt werd jazzmuziek gedraaid wat ik persoonlijk vrij intens vond op de vroege ochtend haha.

10.0Heel fijn hotel, met ruime kamer. Het bad op het balkon is fantastisch. Erg prettig dat de minibar elke dag weer gevuld wordt. Het ontbijtbuffet is zeer uitgebreid en erg lekker. Wij waardeerden de shuttle naar de airport ook.

9.0We had a great family vacation at Shangri La Rasa Ria. We booked it at the last minute and got large ocean view rooms which were a bomb on the pocket but a great experience nevertheless. The goods: 1. Great family friendly place with plenty of activities including free and paid. I especially enjoyed the fire show and golf putting with my son. 2. Good breakfast spread - there was some decent Indian spread too (dosa/idli for breakfast would be a stupendous addition). 3. Great service - everyone from reception desk to restaurant to pool to activities were super helpful and welcoming. Special thanks to Azri/Adrian from egg counter (probably the busiest job during such a peak holiday period) and Michael from the coffee terrace restaurant for special care shown for our dietary needs. 4. Big and beautiful property - plenty to walk but largely fun. 5. Good gym for a hotel - decent machines and weights collection.
− What doesn’t work so well: 1. Distance from city: every decision to travel to city for food or tourism is technically 2 hr return travel decision - we compromised a couple of meals to avoid the travel. 2. Price point: Everything was heavily priced for the star rating and distance from the city. 3. Limited vegetarian eating options - the staff really tried to help but it was inherently limited.
