The location is great, within easy reach of the main attractions, and the overall value for money is reasonable. However, our experience didn’t quite live up to a 9/10 rating. We travel quite frequently and aren’t looking for luxury, but based on our experience, we were expecting a little more.

− The walls are extremely thin, so it’s easy to hear noise from neighbouring rooms, even something as simple as someone watching videos on their phone. The staircase is also very creaky, which can be particularly disturbing at night. The view from the window is a bit of a mixed bag: on one side, there is a beautiful view of a mosque, while on the other, you look out onto a rather neglected, derelict building. Unfortunately, we didn’t experience the particularly warm and welcoming service we had hoped for. One receptionist was absolutely neglected, which left a negative impression. Breakfast was decent, but fairly average overall. We also asked at 11 pm if it would be possible to prepare a breakfast takeaway for the following morning, but unfortunately, this couldn’t be arranged. Similarly, an early check-in wasn’t possible either. Overall, the hotel has a good location and reasonable value for money, but there are a few areas where the experience could be improved, particularly soundproofing and guest service.

El hotel es lindo y acogedor,la zona parece apartada pero es muy cómoda para moverse.

− Se demoran bastante en servir el desayunó,claro que estamos de vacaciones pero cuando hay tour pactado hay horario que seguir. Pagamos por una mejor habitación ,pero resulta que se escuchaba el andar de la habitación de arriba,no un poco sino mucho!!.estuvimos 2 noches pero 1 no nos pudimos duchar porque no había agua caliente,y realmente había sido un día muy frío en estambul. No nos hemos ido felices =/

Great location, and amazing staff at Wonder Wood

This is a family-run lovely hotel in the heart of Istanbul's historic centre. The staff is very supportive and offer excellent service, always there to help. They were kind enough to keep my suitcase stored while I was travelling to other parts of Turkey. The beds were very comfortable, but the location is the best, as it's located very close to the principal touristic areas, as well as restaurants and cafes, ATMs. They have a 24/7 reception, which helped me when I arrived very late for my second stay. Overall a good experience and I would recommend this hotel to others looking for a place to stay in Istanbul.

− Unfortunatelly, the drain in my shower was clogged and while the property tried to fix it in the first days of my stay, it wasn't fixed during the time I was there. I know this isn't an exclusive problem to this hotel (seems to be common in Istanbul), so I just had to have real quick showes, turning shower on and off during it to allow the water to drain and not flood the whole space. Apart from that, everything else was great.

Beautiful building, great location, warm room (late October, it was cold outside).

− No milk available at breakfast for cereal on all 4 mornings and no fruit juice.
