Small Resort, Big Hospitality

Our recent stay at Fiesta Americana Cozumel was a very enjoyable experience overall. If you’re considering this resort, it’s helpful to know that it is one of the smaller Fiesta Americana properties in Mexico, so the atmosphere is much quieter and more relaxed than some of the larger resorts in the brand. The resort itself was exceptionally clean. The common areas, restaurants, and our guest room were all well maintained, and we were impressed with the attention to cleanliness throughout the property. One of the biggest surprises was the food. We dined at every restaurant on the property, including the breakfast buffet, and every meal exceeded our expectations. The food was consistently fresh, flavorful, served hot, and beautifully prepared. For a smaller resort, the dining experience was outstanding. The entertainment staff also deserves recognition. Belen and Edgar did a wonderful job creating a fun atmosphere with activities like bingo, trivia, and evening entertainment. While this isn’t a resort known for an active nightlife, they kept guests engaged throughout the day with plenty of enjoyable activities. We would especially like to recognize our waiter, Jose Erguera. From the moment he began serving the pool area and restaurants, his level of service was exceptional. He was attentive, personable, professional, and always made sure our drinks were refilled before we even had to ask. His outstanding hospitality truly enhanced our vacation and deserves recognition. One area where we noticed room for improvement was poolside beverage service. On our first day, there was little to no drink service available around the pool, with staff primarily collecting empty cups rather than checking on guests. Fortunately, once Jose was assigned to that area, the experience improved dramatically. Travelers should also know that this resort offers a different beach experience than many other all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. While there is beach access within walking distance, guests do cross a road to reach it. This is not a wide, sandy beach designed for spending the day lounging in the sun. Instead, the shoreline is rocky, and the waters are generally better suited for snorkeling than for swimming or relaxing on the beach. If your ideal vacation revolves around long days on a large sandy beach, this may not be the best fit. Another thing to keep in mind is the size of the resort. There is one main pool area and one primary bar, and during our visit the resort was much less crowded than we’ve experienced at other Fiesta Americana properties. If you’re looking for a lively, high-energy resort with multiple pools, numerous bars, and late-night entertainment, you may prefer one of the larger Fiesta Americana locations. This resort is much quieter, and most evenings began winding down around 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. It’s a great option for families or travelers seeking a more peaceful atmosphere. One suggestion we would offer the resort is to incorporate more local Mexican music throughout the property. While we enjoyed the Top 40 and American music that was played, adding more regional music would help create a stronger sense of place and immerse guests in the local culture. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. While this property doesn’t offer all of the amenities and expansive layout found at some of the larger Fiesta Americana resorts, it makes up for it with excellent food, outstanding cleanliness, friendly staff, and a relaxing atmosphere. If you’re looking for a smaller, quieter all-inclusive resort with great dining and easy access to some of Cozumel’s best snorkeling, Fiesta Americana Cozumel is definitely worth considering.
