Great location and a very cool hotel, walkable to all downtown Bellingham has to offer

I liked learning about the history of this beautiful hotel. The location was perfect. Every staff member we interacted was so helpful and accommodating. The highlight of our stay was happy hour in the hotel lounge, and Hunter mixing delicious cocktails. This location is ideal, but prepare yourself for some loud partiers on the street below over the weekend... Sunday night was much quieter. The summer A/C unit in the room not only kept us comfortable, but was the perfect white noise to drown out some of the bar scene sounds below.

− We had two rooms, and it would have been nice if they were uniform in their window coverings. Our daughters room had nice, heavy sound and light blocking shades, and the room my husband and I stayed in had white, metal mini-blinds, which didn't do much to block the partying sounds from the streets below, nor did they block much light to let us sleep in.

Lovely old hotel with interesting public spaces. My suite, however, was ‘meh’ - very small, with minimal attempts at decor. Nothing to justify the price - after all, it’s not exactly in Seattle or Vancouver. (Oh yes - they had lost my reservation and could not give me a comparable suite.)

Truly the Hotel Leo was just about my favorite hotel experience ever. From a great night's sleep in a perfect bed, to chatting about news of the day with front desk staff over coffee in the morning (if others weren't keeping them busy); to day's end with open windows and cool Salish Sea breezes, it was a pleasure. Thanks to good literature in the lobby I found my whale-watching adventure and we saw 2 humpback whales breaching, a peak experience. Hotel Leo was the ideal walking distance to explore Bellingham, from baklava at a Turkish cafe to Filipino food and many other treats. Easy parking made it possible to go to Village Books, then take the ferry to Lummi Island, hike, explore, return and still find a parking spot. The jazz concert at Amendment 21 was inspired. Staff was over the top helpful throughout. The ambiance was lovely, and I appreciate the nice reusable mugs and glasses instead of single-use plastic. Thank you!
