Excellent Location, but Comfort Issues in the Room
6.0I spent three nights at the Courtyard Marriott downtown and had a mixed experience. Even though my profile requests a high‑floor room, I was placed on the first floor, and the hotel didn’t seem anywhere near full. The room was also an ADA setup, which meant a very low bed and a roll‑in shower—neither ideal for a family stay. The biggest problem was the climate control. The room was constantly either too warm and humid or too cold, and it always felt damp no matter how I adjusted the thermostat. The location and parking garage access are fantastic, and those alone might bring me back. But the room assignment and comfort issues definitely took away from the stay.
It was very clean. The staff was very nice to us and very considerate of our stay
10.0It was really close to the hospital and it was very convenient for us to be close to our son. The guy that checked us in he waved the parking fee for us

1.0Only the locatioy
− During our three day stay the room was never cleaned. There was no complimentary coffee or breakfast in the morning. The food we did buy was expensive and disappointing. The front desk clerk had a negative attitude. Not friendly at all. I will never stay there again.

6.0Location and facilities in general.
− Bed was hard and the pillows were very thin.
Overall, the positives way outweighed the negatives.
10.0I decided to try this hotel instead of the Graduate. The rooms just look and feel more modern and bigger. The rooms are less expensive than the Graduate and onsite parking is cheaper and easier too. Both hotels are within striking distance of where my daughter lives. Also, this hotel was quieter....not so much going on in the lobby as the Graduate. Will def stay here from here on out when visiting my daughter in college.
− My key card didn't work after I had used it once. I had my cooler with me and didn't want to leave it by my door while going to fix the key issue. So I had to lug a 30-40 pound cooler downstairs as I went to settle the issue. Also, I had to take my cooler down to the first floor for ice since the ice machine on the 4th floor didn't work.
Dated, unfriendly staff, lousy setting
4.0The hotel is a bit dated, the worst of which is the room key cards. They continually “demagnetize” and stop working. I remember this problem 20 years ago, I guess they haven’t had a tech update since then. They warn you but who remembers not to put it in the same pockets as your cell phone. The room heaters are weird. They turn on and blast cold air at you which eventually heats up, does this every time they turn on. The tvs are tiny and not up to today’s standards. The courtyards don’t have included breakfast and the service is generally slow. The hotel is in an unfortunate location. Lots of the rooms face into the parking garage, alleys, other buildings, etc… I’m a platinum member and they stuck me on the first floor looking out onto an alley and the HVAC equipment for the hotel. The staff isn’t nice, professional, but not nice. It’s expensive for what it is. There are better options in Charlottesville.
