1.0The close proximity to the beach
− The poor customer service and lack of a in site restaurant I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Mana Kai Maui and feel other travelers should be aware of the level of customer service I received. Before my arrival, I informed the property manager that I would be traveling alone with my 7-year-old autistic son. I was not asking anyone to care for my child or take responsibility for him—I was simply hoping for a little understanding and any additional assistance that might be available. Instead, the property manager called me on the day of check-in and spoke to me in an extremely rude and dismissive manner. He told me that they were “not babysitters” and could not take any responsibility for my child. I found this response completely unnecessary, insensitive, and unprofessional. I had to explain that I was not expecting anyone to supervise my son, only asking if there was any extra help they could provide. As I was already on the island, I had no practical option but to continue with my reservation. After checking in, I also realized that this is not a full-service hotel as the listing had led me to expect. There is no staffed front desk after 5:00 p.m., leaving guests without on-site assistance during the evening in case of an emergency. For a property charging approximately $700 per night, I found this unacceptable. The amenities were also disappointing. The pool is very small, with one end approximately seven feet deep, making it less suitable for many families. The property also does not provide complimentary beach chairs for guests, which was surprising for a beachfront resort at this price point. I would like to acknowledge one positive aspect of my stay. The lady who assisted guests with activities and local information was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and professional. She was the only staff member who made us feel genuinely welcome. The most concerning part of my experience occurred when I checked out.

10.0The location couldn’t be more perfect, right on the beach, with great snorkeling. The staff were lovely. Really enjoyed fresh air, ocean breezes and the sound of the waves over air conditioning!

10.0The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. The location was quiet, calm, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The beach was warm and the waves were also nice to swim in. The location was perfect as there were plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
