Robbery
10.0Was robbed in our room, while asleep. Would not allow police to come. This was extension through Viking Cruise Line. Never stay here and cruise line offered nothing.
Very disappointed - I do not recommend staying
4.0The hotel pictures are not correct, they aren’t descriptive of the facilities that are accessible to guests. The first 5 pictures show access to a terrace which is actually part of their imperial suite. There is no terrace available to hotel guests. Using the spa facilities is charged at 20€ pp for a steam room, sauna and pool only. This is also only available for 2 hours! The tennis court isn’t usable (I don’t even think it was used for a very long time) and has not been looked after. Same for the outdoor pool. We were not given wifi access until we asked for it the next day. When I commented that this was supposed to be given at check in, the receptionist laughed, and no apology was given! The reception staff is very poorly trained and have a bare understanding of customer service. I found things out as the days went by and not upon check in! There is no tea or kettle in the room and is only upon request. I was charged for a tea for me to bring it to my room, when this should be complimentary. On top of that, the heating in the room is set automatically and cannot be turned off or regulated to a decent temperature. It was at least 28 degrees Celsius in the room, which made a huge difference in temperature compared to the one outside (3-5 degrees). This has now caused me to be sick! I am overall very disappointed with the way this hotel was presented/described when almost all of the amenities advertised were not available or included!

Disappointing Stay at Grand Hotel Imperial, Lake Como
4.0Unfortunately, our experience at the Grand Hotel Imperial was the worst of our 7-week vacation. The location was poor and far from the charm of central Lake Como, making it inconvenient for sightseeing or enjoying the area. The hotel felt more like a business conference venue, and the arrival of busloads of cruise tourists made it extremely busy and chaotic. To make matters worse, the elevators were not working during our stay. Despite repeatedly asking staff to address the issue, nothing was done, which was incredibly frustrating. Overall, this hotel did not meet expectations, and we would not recommend it for those seeking a relaxing or enjoyable stay in Lake Como.

10.0The lake view room was amazing!
Huge Disappointment
2.0I would never stay at this hotel again even if it was the only one in Como Italy. It was very disappointing in so many ways. This hotel is very outdated and the desk staff were rude. There was even one person behind the counter that rolled her eyes at me when I asked for a different room. We were informed there were no other rooms available with a shower (only a tub). You couldn't pay me enough money to use a tub in this place. It was obvious that our room hadn't been cleaned in a while. I'm sure at some point it was but we are guessing it hadn't been used since it was cleaned because there was a lot of dust, a long black hair on the phone, lightbulbs(2) out in the bathroom. The view (which we were told when we checked in was beautiful) was nothing short of terrible. Don't be fooled by the photos on the website. Anyone can make a place look good with photography. The beautiful view from the balcony on their main website was only seen from one corner of the facility and it must have been a suite. All of the photos posted on their website are definitely not a true representation of what you should expect. In speaking with others on our tour it seemed they were also disappointed with this facility. Our room was at the very end of the hallway and very undesirable. The windows in the hallway were either too short or too tall to see out of them. The restaurant was so overpriced and the food was terrible. We ordered a caesar salad, bowl of minestrone soup, bottle of water, cup of coffee - it cost 73 euros (12 euros for a service charge which we were told was for the napkins, setting up the table, etc.) and the lighting in the restaurant was really bad - you could hardly see (not to mention the hideous pink walls). I really can't say anything positive about this hotel except that we did discover a wonderful restaurant next door which was family owned and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. There are no shops or much of anything to do in that area. You will be very disappointed if you are expecting a place that looks like the photos on their website, not to mention luxury (as they also claim).
