Easy check in. Hotel backs onto great walk for the dog. Good sized rooms

Long walk to our room, as far from reception as you could get and felt like 100 fire doors to battle through. Swimming pool closed for refurbishment but didn't find out till we got there.

DREADFUL STAY IN A DREADFUL HOTEL

1.0

Nothing

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in hotels all over the world and the UK. Booked two nights so we could attend the Open Golf at Royal Birkdale, we checked in at 20.30 on Tuesday evening only to find the restaurant closed at 20.00, not a good start. Had a couple of beers from the bar, each round was a different price! Had a shower but the NO cold water comes out of the bath tap (shower is over the bath) this makes it impossible to control the temperature of the shower, considering we had a family room, this is extremely dangerous as children staying in the room could receive severe burns from the scalding hot water. When down for breakfast on the Wednesday morning, breakfast starts at 07.00 and we arrived at 7.05. ALL of the cooked food (full English) was 100% stone cold and totally uneatable so we left without breakfast, it was like it had been cooked the night before! After a long very hot day at the golf we returned to the hotel to shower and settle down to watch the England world cup match on the tv and have a beer! Our room had not been cleaned and we were left with wet towels and unmade beds. I reported this to reception only to be told that the rooms are only cleaned every FOUR days, and if you want your room cleaned you have to ask at reception the day before, at no point was we informed of this, no mention on the website, no sign at reception or in the room, and never told to us when we checked in. All the receptionist kept saying they are cleaned every four days and you have to ask, I tried to point out how are we supposed to know if guest are NEVER told. Settled down in the reception area to watch the football (the bar was full and there is a TV in reception) we noticed that a guest kept slipping off to his room and returning with a large bottle of Heineken beer (the bar does not sell this beer) this is breaking the hotel's alcohol licence (it has been reported to the Wigan Council).

Was alright. Won’t book it again. Needed a cheap place for 2 days and I understand cheap doesn’t mean best quality but a

Most things. Rooms were tired and dated, needs a refresh, bathroom was gross and not cleaned, hair and stains everywhere, cracked tiles. I didn’t feel clean the entire time.

Bar not being opened despite bar man being there. Felt like it was too much trouble for him so we went across the roast instead. Also, rooms were awfully too hot and we got two terrible nights sleep
