Nice room, parking is a challenge
8.0What a wonderful place. Parking is a challenge, but grateful we were able to find a half way decent parking spot. The rooms were nice and comfortable and we had a very nice hill-side view of Denali National Park. Restaurant on site, which saved us going back out.
Tree-covered views and sewage smells made this a less-than perfect experience.
2.0We visited Denali Bluffs Hotel for three nights as part of a two-week Alaska vacation. There were a myriad of things wrong with this place. - First, sewage smell... they have big issues with their sewage disposal and need to manually pump out their system into waiting trucks at least once/day. This means there's a horrible sewage smell whenever this process takes place. The trucks back up into the main driveway, right by the lobby and restaurant entrance. - Second, there are EPIC views of snow-covered mountains across the valley from this hotel, but in most rooms, you'd never know it because they let thick groups of trees grow in front of many of the rooms. When we checked in, I was excited to see the view from our balcony, I threw open the curtain and could not see anything (like absolutely nothing) through the trees they allowed to grow. I went to the front desk and met Simon (I believe was his name) who was awesome and was moved to another room on the 2nd floor which had better, but not excellent views of the hills. - The third was an absolutely and completely incompetent manager at the restaurant bar. We'd spent thousands of dollars during our stay there, yet this clueless individual argued with me over a $10 charge related to a voucher given to us by our tour company. I'll spare you the details, but suffice to say, he escalated this situation to a point completely and totally inappropriate for someone in the service business. This guy should not be customer facing. The hotel rooms, despite the lack of views, were comfortable and the hotel is located near a number of attractions which made its central location attractive. There are other places to stay in the area and I'd suggest looking there first.
Rough around the edges
4.0The hotel is rough around the edges. Some areas are needing maintenance, toilet in lobby not working, and a staircase was falling apart. My biggest complaint is that I took a shower at 2 in the afternoon when there should have been plenty of hot water. It was lukewarm at best. On the other hand-The staff was kind and helpful. I appreciate the front desk folks.
Stay somewhere else
4.0Not a great experience here. Room was really small and not clean. Staff was not helpful. Paper thin walls. The onsite restaurant had good food, but expensive. Coffee shop on site had minimal offerings. I asked the host at the hotel for a wine glass to take to my room and he said he didn't have enough and they never came back like I was going to steal it??!!
Disappointed in Denali
4.0Beautiful location with the Mountain View‘s however it’s directly over a major highway so if one of your nice rooms is overlooking the river, unfortunately you will be listening lots of traffic also, the hotel is very cheaply constructed, and if you happen to have a downstairs room, you will hear every single conversation, water in the pipes, and every single dropped item and footsteps of those above and around you. The only amenities that are provided to you in your room are trash cans, a couple of lamps, a roll of single ply toilet paper and one very small bar of cheap soap that does not lather. You also get two hard pillows & cheap linens with no housekeeping services unless you ask for it
Cosy and relatively clean rooms. But no AC!
6.0Friendly staff. We had rooms 2122 and 2121 on the ground floor. The views were nice but rooms on the smaller side. Visiting in June, I was surprised to see temperatures as high as 16c, and no fans or ACs in unit. It doesn’t say this anywhere so be sure to ask when booking in summer.
