One of the worst experiences I ever had at a hotel
2.0We checked into the hotel and left right away to go do some fun stuff around town. Once we came back from running around and got settled in. We noticed that the carpet had a slight dampness/stickiness feel to it and when walking on it barefoot, it left your feet kind of sticky feeling. Don’t know if it was from humidity or if was just the condition of the carpet. I called the front desk and they offered to put us in a new room. The room they tried to switch us into was smaller and then I noticed that the carpet in that room had the same feel to it and then also noticed the hallway carpet was like that too. I later discovered that the first floor hallway did not have that feel to it so I don’t know if it’s an issue only on the third floor or what, but the hotel did not have any king rooms available on the first floor. The maintenance guy was trying to assist us switching rooms and I was trying to explain my concern and he told me that he “loved me like a brother and that he thought I was hallucinating” since a piece of toilet paper did not get wet on top of the floor. I did not appreciate what he said to me. I told him it was just very lightly damp and that it wouldn’t be enough to see a mark on the toilet paper. We woke up the next morning and you could feel a slight dampness on the comforter as well. This was very annoying to us and if we could get a reasonable rate from a different hotel, we would have switched hotels that’s how annoying it was. I was trying to contact management but she was not there both days that we stayed even though I was told she would be there both times. So the front desk gave me her email to contact her and I did. After I reported the room’s issue to hotel management, she responded by saying they investigated and found nothing wrong. She said maintenance determined the carpet was dry. She also stated they offered me multiple room changes, which they did not, they only offered me one other room change that was on the 3rd floor that had the same issue. They told me there were no other king rooms available. She made a false accusation that we supposedly denied the other room charge options because they were not a king bed, That is also inaccurate. No such options were offered to us. Even if they had been why would we take a smaller size bed with no compensation at all when we paid for a king. The manager would have known about the whole situation if she was actually there like she was supposed to be. Since they believed there was no problem and no other guests had complained, they refused to offer any compensation. Instead, they said I could either stay in my current room or leave for another hotel. Which I would have done if the hotel rates were not so high. This was not our first issue at this hotel, we stayed here about a year ago, had no issues then, but 11 months later, they double charged me the full amount for that stay of 297.32 for whatever reason, and it took me over a month to get resolved, going back and forth with the hotel and disputing the charge with my bank. This was one of the reasons why I stayed at this hotel again so I could take care of this issue personally. In addition to our stay, the door to our hotel room was very tight against the door frame and very hard to open and close. The bathroom tub faucet was leaking, the TV was very small for today’s standards. The TV stand dresser drawer kept opening by itself every time you walked by it. The luggage cart dolly was very dirty, the worst I ever seen. The elevator did not operate smoothly and felt poorly maintained. There were cigarette butts on the ground by the side doors. One of the side entrances into the building door latch was broken and not secure throughout our whole visit. The manager finally called me to go over the situation, but kept saying false information, lying about a lot of things, and hung up on me twice. I did contact corporate about this whole situation. I will not be returning to this hotel. In my opinion, the hotel is in need of significant maintenance, updates, and improvements in customer service.
Worst hotel in South Haven
2.0This hotel was in very poor condition. There were stains in the room, the room was full of moisture in the floors and walls, and the blinds were broken. The staff seemed completely fine with working in a mediocre hotel, and dressed/talked that way. Will never stay at another Country Inn and suites again. What a joke.

2.0A lot of places to choose from for dinner or ice cream. Desk people very professional and friendly.
− My room was disgusting! The group I was with said their rooms weren't very clean either. I'm not much of a germ-a-fobe, but I used my wipes to clean the toilet, floor and dirty walls, door knobs and light switches. My room was bug infested; I think I killed like 50 gnats and a couple of flies. I had no shower curtain, either. I didn't even take my shoes off until I went to bed. Not very happy.
