Great New Year's Eve stay. Never had to leave the property.

10.0

We spent the night there with friends on New Years Eve. The lodge is beautiful, the staff was very friendly and professional. The rooms were just remodeled and spottless. The Bar had such a fun atomosphere.

AWFUL!!!!!

2.0

EVERYTHING WAS BROKEN, Staff gave 3 stories regarding why they would not turn on upper fireplace, annnnd it was freezing in thee entire lodge. All vending machines were out of order . Pool area straight out of horror film. Freezer was locked in the dining room so no desserts available....Arcade was broken.... etc. We've stayed at all the state parks & loved them, but this one was terrible!!!! Some of thee employees were very kind though. It also smelled thick like cigarette smoke from thee employees smoking right outside the lobby in and out all day & night.

Good clean room that met our needs.

10.0

My wife and I stayed two nights at Deer Creek Lodge in a handicapped accessible room. The bathroom served both of well for showers as we both have issues with mobility. The room was clean and comfortable. We slept well both nights. We both enjoyed the balcony for the great view of the lake--and a bit of the local wildlife. With our senior discount, the stay was inexpensive. The service was very good. It was great that someone came to take out our room cart as we were leaving.

OK Lodge

6.0

My wife and I stayed at the lodge for a long w/e get away. It's currently undergoing some improvements. So there are some pardon our dust areas. I would say the lodge could use a fresh coat of paint. So hopefully whatever their doing addresses it and makes it look shiny and new. Overall we had a nice stay. The room was a single king with a balcony. It has the typical amenities TV, Mini fridge, Hairdryer, Coffee marker and so on. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. But the rest of the furniture may have been modern in the 1970's and could use some updating. Onsite activities. The website says you can rent Kayaks, peddle boats and paddle boards. My wife and I did rent a tandem kayak and had a nice day paddling on the lake. I did see paddle boarders but not peddle boats. You may want to call the lodge to verify the availability of these rentals. If you like boating. You can take a short drive to the marina and rent one. There is dock at the lodge that you can fish from. Other activities. There is an onsite golf course. Indoor and outdoor pools. Community fire pits. There are trails for a day hiking trip. The food at the onsite restaurant is average. If you have the time and you like to explore I would suggest seeking out a local restaurant for some of your meals. Overall not a bad idea for a quick w/e getaway. Hopefully they update it and make it more appealing.

Do not stay at this State Lodge - multiple issues

2.0

This is an Ohio State lodge in dire need of deep cleaning. Our rooms were very nice and clean and recently renovated but the lodge itself is undergoing a renovation. Expect to see no ceilings or baseboards in areas. Aside from the renovations, there is a real need of just general maintenance. For instance, the yard could be mowed. The concrete surrounding the pool is cracking and in rubble in some areas. The are some safety concerns as well. Just behind the pool by the walkout patio rooms lives a groundhog who comes out throughout the day. Ferel cats also roam the grounds. The doors from the pool into the lodge by our rooms had poorly working doors. The one side was locked and the other needed brute force to open it. When I mentioned this to management his reply was to use a different door. I let him know no fire department would agree with him. They also had several golf carts that cruised through the pool/seating area. Luckily no one walked out in front of them. We were celebrating a family vacation so booked several rooms with the group sales agent. Carrie was wonderful to work with and helped me add a night to our reservation and made sure it was attached to our weekend reservation so we wouldn't have to check out and in again. She also told us our rooms would all be in the same wing. Imagine my surprise at check in to be told we would have to check out at 11:00 and recheck in at 4:00 for our three-night stay. Also discovered our rooms were not all in the same wing. Managment didn't offer to help - we ended up staying in our daughter's room that wasn't rented for the first night so we wouldn't have to check out and check in. Carrie in the morning was very helpful and managed to get all of our rooms in the same wing. She was wonderful to work with. We were also shocked at the lodges policy to allow the locals to purchase day passes. There is no limit to how many passes they sell. Just a heads up that if you are a paying lodge guest you might not be able to set around the pool as the locals might have all the chairs. Mind you the weekend our family stayed was a sold-out weekend. Also, the outdoor pool will only open if there is a lifeguard on duty. Unfortunately for us on Saturday the guard did not make it in. Management did find a replacement that arrived at 12:30 - two and a half hours past the stated opening time. Not sure this was a high priority for management. Needless to say, we will not be staying at this lodge again nor will we recommend it. Very unfortunate as the lodge is in a beautiful area. They also add a beautification fee on loading and food purchases, as well as a lodging tax ion addition to the sales tax. If the state of Ohio is using these monies for the lodges directly, I am not seeing it in the lodge itself.

Mediocre & overpriced

6.0

The restaurant is extremely overpriced, slow and you have to check to make sure you got everything. The WiFi doesn’t work and has never worked for the last 4 Summer trips. Considering the price of everything it is just mediocre.
