Terrific Thommasso
10.0This is related to our driver Tomasso (spell?). On St. Patrick's Day (March 17, 2026) Tomasso took 6 of us the Cradle of Humanity. Not only was he punctual but the vehicle was cleam and there were bottles of water for each passenger. We got started and Thamaasso set clear expectations. He gave us a commentary of areas we were passing during the drive which included lots of humor. He was happy to answer our questions and his knowledge was impressive. He went above and beyond by helping one of our group members who was having some mobility issues. Oh he also took some great group pictures for us. Tomasso is professional, knowledgeable, fun, polite and kind...oh and his twins are super cute. He showed us a picture. From 6 Canadians: Michael and Donna Hansby, Bruce and Kathy, Wayne and Janie.
Convenient
10.0Literally across the street. We got two adjoining rooms for an overnight stay before going on to Hoedspruit. It was difficult to communicate with hotel, fo some reason our emails were blocked by hotel and we had to communicate via IHG. I demonstrate for concierge and she took a picture of the rejection. ..

Five star hotels steps from international arrivals at JNB
10.0Literally the hotel is 10m away from the doors of the international arrivals at OR Tambo Johannesburg airport. Check in was efficient. Welcome drinks offered and a wet towel , room was ready—upgraded to a suite with snacking amenities. The Quills restaurant had an amazing dinner as did breakfast. The indoor rooftop pool and gym are amazing. Service was five stars all around. The concierge helped me organize a half day safari before my departure flight.
An Oasis at the Airport
10.0This is obviously not a destination hotel. It sits right opposite the airport terminal. Could not be easier to reach. It's for weary travels stumbling off long haul flights, folks with an early departure, business meetings. And yet the staff here were some of the most helpful, efficient and friendly we've ever encountered. Our arrival here after an overnight flight from UK was as though we were old friends and they were delighted to look after us. What a welcome to South Africa. Our room was clean, quiet and well-appointed. It was great to have access to a gym and a pool - brilliant way to straighten our spines after trying to sleep on a plane. Ate in the restaurant that evening and again the staff were so attentive. It's not fine dining but it is very good food with a fairly wide menu. Breakfast next morning set us up for hitting the road and starting our exploring. It's not often an airport hotel excites me - but I wish they were all like this. Even waved us off in our hire vehicle.
