Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa♡

My son and I stayed at catamaran for one night. We were scheduled for four nights. The resort itself was nice. The food was excellent. The location great. The outdoor areas nice and clean. The gym was well equipped and clean. The problem was the room. It was dirty. The rooms are extremely outdated. The bed sheet smelled. There was trash behind the bed and under the bed had not been vacuumed in what looked like years. The shower curtain was falling apart. The curtains were yellowed. It’s was gross. We managed one night and then switched hotels. If they would up grade their rooms the resort would be near perfect.

Overall a great stay! Will be coming back

The location was hands-down our favorite part of the stay — right on the bay, steps from the boardwalk, and just steps from the water. The beach and water were clean, and the water itself was clear and warm, which made it easy to just relax and enjoy. We loved the resort guest chairs set up right on the beach with food and drink service — such an easy, relaxing way to spend the day. The food on-site was great across the board, so we never had to think twice about where to eat. We were also really appreciative that the resort accommodated an early check-in for us since our flight landed early that morning — we know that's not guaranteed, but it made a big difference after a long travel day.

− Two things stood out. First, the pool — given the nightly price, I had fairly high expectations based on similar-priced resorts we've stayed at before, and the pool fell a bit short. It felt somewhat dirty and dated, with cloudy water, and while I understand that comes with a lot of families and kids using it, it was still noticeable. I would have loved to see a larger pool with a bigger shallow/beach-entry area — we have a 3.5-year-old, and that setup would have been ideal for her. The lounge chairs, umbrellas, and pool bar all felt a little dated too. My daughter still had a great time, but my husband and I would have appreciated a more upscale pool experience to match the price point. Second, the room. It was fine overall but dated — some updates had clearly been made, but small things gave it away, like a loose, jiggly bathroom door handle. The kitchenette was very bare-bones: lots of cabinet space, but no glasses, plates, paper towels, or soap provided, which would have been a nice touch. A real coffee mug instead of a paper/plastic cup would have been appreciated too. The beds were comfortable and the views from the room were beautiful, so it wasn't all negative — just worth noting that the room felt a bit dated if you're the kind of traveler who cares about that.

Location was great. Gardens delightful. I was there for a wedding so did not explore much of the surrounding area. It was lovely to be able to walk out of the hotel and take walks beside the bay on a concrete path. Staff were welcoming and helpful

− The room furnishings were “tired”. Cleanliness was great but the bathroom ready for a bit of update. TV was temperamental. Patience was needed to get it to respond to the remote. WiFi was useless. I did not make an issue of it as I could tether to my phone but had to remove it totally from a device as it blocked using my broadband

Location close to the ocean beaches. On the bay.

− The facility was not very clean. The same pieces of trash were there all week. The pool often did not have towels. Food expensive. The extra cost for parking is ridiculous when paying premium room rates. Staff were borderline curt at times.
