10.0Well - what a fantastic all inclusive place to stay in Barbados! We arrived very early having just left a cruise on the Royal Clipper (also fantastic!), expecting just to be able to drop our bags off. We received a lovely welcome, were sat down with a glass of lemonade, and checked in. We received an apology that our room wasn't ready (it was 9.30am!), but we were welcome to make full use of all the facilities including drinks, lunch etc. By 11am we were told our room was ready! What a difference from UK hotels! The room was beautiful - an ocean view with a lovely comfortable balcony, and plenty of space and storage. The food was brilliant - plenty of choice, and if you didn't fancy what was on the menu, the staff would do their best to prepare something suitable. Champagne (Piper Heidsieck) breakfasts, lovely light lunches and brilliant dinners. Almost all drinks were included in the all inclusive so we had plenty of brilliant cocktails, and lovely wine! The facilities were great - plenty of sunbeds around the terrace, and although the little beach has been more or less swept away, we could get down at low tide for a wander in the sand. The hotel is over 3 floors - no lift, but our cases were all taken up for us, so it didn't really matter! The staff were all very professional but very friendly - everyone welcomed us with a smile no matter when or where we were. Also look out for The House house cat Panda who wanders around in true Caribbean style! The hotel is small, so you feel well looked after. The only slight downside (apart from having to leave!) was that it was only when checking out we discovered the QR code that brought up the daily menus and activities - we fed back to Reception that they should bring this to guest's notice as they check in, as it would have been really useful! Apart from that, we couldn't fault the hotel, the facilities, the location and the staff - we can't wait to come back!
Fantastic
10.0Visited The House for the second time, travelled with my parents and then husband arrived for the last 10 days of our holiday. As my father’s mobility isn’t the best, the house was the hotel we needed. We both had ground floor rooms which led onto the pool area, with the ocean view. The rooms were more like having your own villa with such easy access to the pool, restaurant and of course the bar areas. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with such smiles it made our hearts dance. The staff and management team make this the place to go, they cannot do enough for you. All of the staff laugh and smiles with each other which assures you it’s a great place to work. The food was great although we chose to eat out a few times to see the real Barbados, but always rushed back to get a drink in the bar with other guests. We had such a great mix of guests which again made it fell we were at home. And not to mention Panda the cat. Jason you have a great team with you and cannot wait to come back soon. Thank you all for making our holiday special, and thank you for looking after my parents. See you soon xxxx
A wonderful experience you won't forget!!
10.0My wife and I have just arrived back home from spending ten nights at the House. I had read a couple of bad reviews prior to our arrival and was a bit concerned. I am so pleased to say that I needn't had worried!! The Hotel is excellent and what makes it, is the amazing , fantasic staff who are awesome.Nothing is too much.I have never been on a holiday where all the guests mingled, joined in with each other and it was just like one big family.... basically down to the hotel and staff. It was a shame the beach had been washed away partially...but that is nature, nothing you can do about it.Breakfast, lunch and evening meals wera all very good with plenty of choice, although we did eat out at night on occassions, but nothing to do with the Hotel!!!.There was evening entertainment with very good singers. The water taxi is like being on a small trip, and worth taking a ride. Our room was on the top floor with a view of the ocean and was perfect to rise and see the sunshine. It was very good in every aspect and worth paying the extra. Its not fair to mention any one member of staff as they all made our holiday ..Thank you and well done!! This was a holiday to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we will not forget. Oh...and the bar is a great central meeting point with something for everybody!! Go for it!!
Disappointing.
4.0Here now. Meeting another couple. Birthday celebration. Booked over a year ago. Requested adjacent rooms 60 days in advance and they couldn’t figure it out. VERY small resort, beach non-existent. Out of several items on the limited menu, they are out of several at 12:30 PM. For $8,800 USD for 5 nights, to say I’m disappointed is an understatement.
An amazing property and so beautiful!
10.0This place is amazing! From the time you step out of the cab there is someone to greet you. The check in process was flawless and had someone to carry our bags to our room and make sure we were settled. The atmosphere was so relaxing every day and staff was so attentive. If you come and get the chance to meet Denise, TJ, or Quasi you are very lucky, great people. The food was so good although if you have the unfortunate opportunity to meet Nadia, don’t worry, you don’t need a reservation, they will feed you whenever you get there. The beach is amazing and the pool area so clean. It is a very quiet place, no crazy music, but the sound of the ocean is so beautiful!
Perfectly imperfect
10.0It was with a little trepidation that we headed to The House for a much-needed escape. Recent reviews had been quite negative, but there is a lot to love about the adults-only hotel. Our room -- third floor Ocean Front Junior Suite -- was modern, clean and with a stunning view. The bed was so comfy, and we enjoyed our peaceful oasis overlooking the ocean, with some incredible sunsets. We were really impressed by the food -- again, I wasn't expecting much as recent reviews had been quite damning -- but the lunch and dinner menus changed daily, and featured an interesting variety of options which were all fresh and delicious. There was a Caribbean buffet one night and a BBQ on the Saturday lunchtime we left -- all great! The breakfast buffet is also good. The real highlight -- as others have said -- is the staff. Honestly, I have never stayed anywhere else with such lovely people working there! All of them so warm and friendly. Our thanks go to each one for looking after us. They really made our holiday. There are a few niggles. General service seems to be a bit hit and miss -- some mornings we were asked if we'd like to book a table for dinner; other days we weren't asked; other guests were asked if they'd like to book tables for the whole week (this might sound unimportant, but the restaurant does fill up and one night we didn't get to eat until after 10pm). We did get our complimentary massage (with was fabulous!); other guests didn't. Apparently there are options for a la carte menus, picnics and afternoon tea, but that info is hidden on a shelf around a corner in the lobby which we didn't spot until the day before we left. There is zero information in the bedroom -- a pack with details on the spa facilities, meal times, water taxi info, the dine around scheme, water sports, etc, surely is a must. Also, I'm not sure to what extent the hotel was renovated, but there were several big blotches on our bedroom wall (we did mention this and an attempt was apparently made to paint them in, but we couldn't see any difference), as well as flaking ceilings on the walkway leading to the rooms, and badly chipped and flaking outside lounge furniture in the common areas -- unfortunately not reflective of a 5-star hotel. That said, though, we quickly eased into a relaxed way of being at The House, and had a great holiday.
