Misleading Food Prices
2.0I have stayed at Hôtel Belle Rives on several occasions over the years and have always regarded it as one of my favourite hotels on the Côte d’Azur. My previous experiences have been excellent, which is why I recently suggested to a friend that we visit for lunch on the waterfront terrace. After reviewing the menu, we were informed that the day’s special was sea bass for two, which we ordered along with a side salad and two drinks. The meal itself was enjoyable; however, we were extremely surprised when the bill arrived to discover that the fish alone cost €185. Given that the majority of main courses on the menu were priced in the region of €20–€30, this represented a very significant increase in cost. At no point were we advised of the price of the special, nor were we given any indication that it would be so substantially more expensive than the dishes listed on the menu. While I appreciate that fresh fish may be charged by weight and that premium restaurants command premium prices, transparency is essential. Had we been informed of the price beforehand, we could have made an informed decision. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed, disappointed and, frankly, taken advantage of. As a returning customer who has always spoken highly of Belle Rives, this experience has unfortunately left a sour impression. My complaint is not about the quality of the food, but about the lack of price disclosure and what I consider to be poor customer service. I hope management will review this practice to ensure future guests are clearly informed of the cost of daily specials before ordering.
Great Hotel
10.0My husband and I went with his son and Girlfriend. We had such a lovely time, the Hotel is quite special and the staff could not do enough to make our stay so comfortable. The beach club, the restaurants, the bar are all great with a really good atmosphere and all within a short walk of Juan Les Pins. I would have no hesitation to recommend the Hotel.
