Sleeping in an Art Gallery: Park Hotel Tokyo
10.0If you're looking for a hotel in Tokyo that feels a little different from the usual luxury chain experience, **Park Hotel Tokyo** is definitely worth a look. We stayed for four nights in April 2025, and while I can't claim to remember every detail of the stay, there are a few things about this hotel that have definitely stuck in my mind. Most importantly: **you can actually sleep in a work of art.** A Hotel in the Sky Park Hotel Tokyo is located within the **Shiodome Media Tower**, a striking high-rise in the Shiodome district of Tokyo. Rather than occupying an entire conventional hotel building, Park Hotel Tokyo takes up several floors within the tower, including the 25th-floor atrium lobby and guest rooms on the upper levels. And that gives the hotel one of its biggest advantages: **The views.** The hotel has fantastic views across Tokyo, including spectacular views towards **Tokyo Tower**. If you've got a room facing the right direction, waking up to one of Tokyo's most recognisable landmarks outside your window is a pretty good way to start the day. Welcome to the Art Hotel The thing that really makes Park Hotel Tokyo different is its obsession with art. The hotel has embraced the concept of **"Infinite Time and Space Amid Cognizant Japanese Beauty"**, and art is everywhere — from the public spaces to the individually designed guest rooms. The hotel's famous **Artist in Hotel** project takes this even further, with artists creating individual rooms that are effectively giant pieces of artwork. The Artist Rooms are located on the **31st and 34th floors**, and each has its own theme and artistic style. And yes, we tried two of them. Two Very Different Rooms We stayed in two rooms during our four-night stay. The first was the **Castle Room**, which was elegant and atmospheric and had a completely different feel from your typical hotel room. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the second room — but I certainly remember what it looked like. **Colourful doesn't really begin to describe it.** It was one of the most vibrant hotel rooms I've ever stayed in, and the photos really do tell the story much better than I could. This is one of those hotels where I'd happily return simply to try another room. It's almost like having a collection of boutique hotels under one roof. Tokyo on Your Doorstep The location is another strong point. The hotel is in **Shiodome**, a modern business and commercial district with excellent transport connections, and the subway is particularly convenient. One of the quirks I loved was that the lift down to the basement takes you directly into the **Tokyo subway system**. No wandering around outside trying to work out which entrance you're supposed to use. Just get in the lift, go downstairs and you're effectively on the network. There's also a complimentary drink voucher included with the stay, which is always a nice little bonus. And Then There's Tokyo Tower If you're visiting Tokyo for the first time, I'd definitely recommend visiting **Tokyo Tower**. Yes, Tokyo Skytree is taller and newer, but Tokyo Tower has a character all of its own and remains one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. And staying at Park Hotel Tokyo gives you a particularly good reason to appreciate it — **you may be able to see it from your room**. It's one of those views that never gets particularly old. Would I Stay Again? Definitely — although probably not in the same room. Unfortunately, I don't remember enough of the finer details of this particular stay to give you a blow-by-blow account of the breakfast, service or other facilities. But what I *do* remember is the hotel's uniqueness. There aren't many hotels where you can choose a room based almost entirely on the artwork and experience a completely different environment each time you visit. I'd love to return and work my way through more of the Artist Rooms — particularly now that I've seen just how different they can be. If you're an art lover, a design enthusiast, or simply someone who gets bored with conventional hotel rooms, **Park Hotel Tokyo should be on your list**. **Verdict: Part hotel, part art gallery, part Tokyo viewing platform — Park Hotel Tokyo is a wonderfully quirky choice for anyone looking for something beyond the ordinary.**
Hotel altamente raccomandato
