1.0− We stayed at the Central Park Hotel in London (June 27–30), which we booked through Booking.com. Unfortunately, the first two nights of our stay were seriously ruined by numerous problems. On the first night, we were given a room where the air conditioning wasn’t working, even though it was extremely hot because the towel warmer in the bathroom hadn’t been turned off. The room also had no window, and the only solution offered was to sleep with the door open, which made us feel unsafe as two women traveling together. The next day, we were moved to another room, where we found several cockroaches. We immediately reported the problem and were then upgraded to a third room, which was clean and satisfactory. We appreciated the staff’s kindness and efforts throughout our stay. After our stay, the hotel acknowledged the issues with the air conditioning and the pests but refused to grant us a refund, offering only a discount on a future stay—which is of no interest to us. Despite several follow-up emails, the hotel stopped responding. We asked Booking.com to review our case and help us obtain a fair partial refund for at least one night’s stay (still no response). A damage deposit of £50 is required on arrival. This will be collected by credit card. You should be reimbursed within 14 days of check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full by credit card, subject to an inspection of the property.
